Blog Subject:  Age of the Emperor - The War in Golconda

So latest Tempus Fugitives took my Worldeaters with new Angron model to battle against the loyal forces of the Emperor.
Angron turned out to be a beast, but also found 20 man squads to be very effective.

Game 1 - Blood Angels - single planet strike
Defending my Indomitable Fortress against a horde of Blood Angel Assault marines with a couple of Custodians. Angron got into the fray - game over
Win for the Worldeaters 157 vp to 64 vp

Game 2 - Salamanders & RavenGuard - double planet strike
I was joined by a DeathGuard player from my faction.
The Salamanders were joined by some Mechanicum and launched a Teleport attack killing 19 of 20 Worldeater Devastators....
Then it all went sour for the Imperials as Angron and Typhus went on the rampage.
Win for the Warmaster Forces - 223 vp to 22 vp.

Game 3 - Dark Eldar - single heavy assault force 2500pts
Never faced Dark Eldar with the Worldeaters, had a terrible time with reserves with only Devastators and Angron on the table for 3 turns. This allowed him to shoot up Angron down to 1 wound (but the never killed him). Then my reserves arrived and the Worleaters went on the rampage, destroying all his army except a Night Wing flyer.
Win for the Worldeaters - 170 vp to 17 vp

Game 4 - Iron Hands & RavenGuard - double planet strike
This time joined up with Jono and his Worldeaters and we were attacking.
Our drop in got most of our force but our shooting & combat was poor.
But the following 2 turns saw us eat through the loyalists, still it was close thing as we only claimed one of their two Bastions.
Win to the Warmaster - 97 vp to 80 vp (note: had to win by 20% which would be 16 vp) so we win by 1 point...

Game 5 - Imperial Fists - single heavy assault force 2500pts
The Imperial Fists put down a massive line of defence around their Bastion and their first turn dropped Rogal Dorn and his Honor Guard down in a Drop Pod right in front of my Bastion.
In my turn I drop Angron down but he deviates down to within 12" of Dorn. We then have a big brotherly punch up between the Primarchs which ends with Angron getting knocked down.
Faced with a large amount of guns facing a lone Dorn, he decides to retreat to his battle line.
Ends in a Draw - 120 vp to 109 vp

So over the whole weekend the Worldeaters managed to get 4 wins and 1 draw
A very good showing, but also means I have 2500pts painted.

Now need to plan for March 2012 - Age of the Emperor - Hammer of the Gods which I will be taking my Eldar.

Good showing Phil, Angron is quite a monster with only another Primarch being able to take him down. My Dark Eldar look forward to bringing him down!

Do you know the points for March yet? Im planning on taking the Carnival of Flesh to next years Throne of Skulls and doubles and if I can the campagin all the better.

So far Stu has hinted at a small mission called SkyHook for 1000pts and the main battle being 2000pts.
It seems most people struggled with Planetstrike doubles of 3000pts, must admit both mine only ran 3 turns - so must agree with consensus.
Though "Hammer of the Gods" will be playing standard games so should run smoother.
