Blog Subject:  Next Tournament - Reading Warfare

Now need to start planning what to take to Reading Warfare.

Would still like to consider taking the Mixed Tankovy Batalon, being Fearless Conscripts can be hard being hit on 2+ as I found when shot at by German FlaK36 guns.
But then really worked in my last 2 games as I had too many tanks for my opponents to kill.
What did not really work was the Razvedki Platoon in only the last game of 'Free For All' did they do any damage and that was from the Passenger fired MG's.

Considering dropping them for more Rocket Launchers with extra crew, would mean firing like 16 guns for a 12" by 12" template which I can re-roll to hit with (found the 4+ being Trained a bit hit or miss).

So my new list would look like:

205pts Combat - T-26 Tankovy Company (10 x T-26S)
605pts Combat - Medium Tankovy Company (10 x T-34)
620pts Combat - Heavy Tankovy Company (6 x KV-1e)
275pts Support - Guards Rocket Mortar Launcher (8 x Katyusha with extra crew)
====
1705pts

Leaves me 45pts
Could add Warrior - Mariya Oktyabrskaya for 25pts
She can be added to any Medium Tankovy Company of T-34's and has three special rules:
Vengeance - Pass motivation on 2+
For the Motherland - Pass Skill test on 2+
Fighting Girlfriend - Does not reduce ROF for moving; but still affected by 'Hen & Chicks'

Otherwise looking to remove a T-26S to add a 7th KV-1e

What should I do?

That number of tanks rolling forward should give most people problems. The only downsides you face:

- The anti-tank fest (similar to Newbury 2nd game)
- Having to arrive piecemeal. The army is only effective if you can use your weight of numbers. If you have to hold 2 of the tank squadrons in reserve then you run the risk of being picked off too easy.
- Lack of cover for the rockets. If I was facing this army I would make them a target.

The warrior option looks OK - anything to help those tanks stay moving and on the field.

Can't really do anything about those kinds of draws, missions will be:
Game 1 - Encounter
Game 2 - No Retreat
Game 3 - Pig in the Middle* Customer scenerio - played short table edges one objective each end and one in the middle.
Game 4 - Free for All

So yep - will need to think hard on how to rush Artillery and static Infantry Armies - 8 Rocket Launchers dropping a 12" by 12" template should soften them up a bit.

Only Encounter has reserves - Got to decide what to hold off table carefully.

Yes a clever player will not ignore the Rocket Launchers - but with so many tanks heading their way and the Mortars being out of range except to Artillery (then they will be spreadout so only 1 under each artillery template).

Have to have a practice game - think most of your Americans fit within North Africa (Italy) US list.
Let's plan for a game round my place?

Always happy to give you a challenge :)

I can either use my US as an improvised list - or if you want to try it against something you think will be problematic then am happy to play with whatever you put in front of me.

Time zone: Europe/London
