Blog Subject:  Model Railway Christmas Tree

Today we put up the Christmas decorations in the house. After a while I had this odd thought creep into my head: "why not have LEDs on a tree on the railway?". A short time later and I had 5 LEDs plus some resistors soldered together and wrapped round a small conifer on the railway layout near the station entrance.

They're surprisingly bright. Unfortunately I only had orange, yellow, and red LEDs left in the small size, would have liked to put a green one in too. Maybe next year ...

Looks pretty cool. You need blue and green though to be more 'Christmas' styled for colors. But I think it came out really well. What about a tree topper? Maybe a star or something.

I only had yellow, orange, and red spare in 2mm LEDs which is why there isn't much colour. I might try sanding down some of the green ones that have plenty of plastic on them and add them later.
