Finished MidWar Mixed Tankovy Batalon

by DaBoss on Fri Sep 16, 2011 1:30 pm
Forgot to take my camera to Newbury Colours
So finally got round to taking some photo's of the painted army. People were surprised at how good the Zvezda models looked on table.
Really worked well when just taking the one manufacturer and not mixing with Battlefront which seem to be a good 1mm bigger in all dimensions.

Cain's BA Blog 26th May

by Cain Tiberius on Thu May 26, 2011 12:17 pm
Howdy folks.
Those of you who met me at AoS meet in March will probably my first Stormraven which I based on the Hunter Killer from Terminator Salvation.
Well today I now present my 2nd completed Stormraven.

As you'll notice, it is based on GWs SR kit. I stretched it using someone's idea which on B&C which can be found here
But, I continued with my VTOL design. And I was actualy quite suprised how close my first and second SR came dimentionally speaking. I feel they could easily be imagined to be different models of the same vehicle.
Anywho, see what you guys think.

Something different 7th August

by Cain Tiberius on Tue Aug 07, 2012 8:32 pm
Updated pics in the comments ~ 10th August

Made some progress with my Devestator Squad, but nothing really worth posting.

However while in town, I found this little star in a charity shop.

The box was rather tatty round the edges, but the model is completely untouched inside. Everything still on sprews and in unopened polythene bags. Instruction and decals included. And all the princely sum of £1.50!

I've been thinking of doing a small(ish) guard detatchment as Allies using Mantic Warpath Corperation figures. Now this 1/35 scale challenger II is about the same length as the Baneblade, but a fraction narrower and shorter. But I'm thinking it could pass for a medium heavy range. ...

Predator bio mask 1/4 scale modelling

by Spack on Tue Feb 24, 2015 6:10 pm
I've recently come into possession of a number of NECA 1/4 scale Predator figures, including the "classic" Jungle Hunter from the first movie with the "closed mouth" head. I've wanted to make a bio mask/helmet for it since I got it, and have spent quite some time trying to find a suitable 3D model to base it on. After much searching around and a number of false starts with low poly models I finally stumbled across a "pepakura" file designed to be printed on paper and cut out to make a full size helmet. Converting to a useable format for 3D modelling took a little time, but I was finally able to get it into Sketchup and start tinkering with it to try and make it suitable for printing in 3D.

I already had a rough mesh of the head from the closed mouth Predator that I'd created using 123d Catch on my phone, and sized in Sketchup to be as close to the physical version as possible. Using this I was then able to scale the pepakura mesh to the head, leaving a little...

BA Blog 4th April 13: Bikes

by Cain Tiberius on Thu Apr 04, 2013 12:39 am
Howdy folks.

So painting has been slow since I finished the Hawk. I really don't like painting large models :/
But I have now finished a Raven Wing style squad. Yeah I know that's DA, but I think the unit composition fits well in any SM force. As my 2nd Co. is complete, these are from the 8th Co. (assault Co.) which is represented by a double green tear drop on the right shoulder. On models from this Co. I'm deciding to for go the embossed shoulder pads and just free handing the symbols. All the bases are made by me as usual.

The 2 bikes on the left side are from the Dark Vengence set. The 2nd bike to the right side is an eBay rescue. And the other 3 bikes, the attack bike and the speeder are all from my 10 year old force, with the same update techniques I've mentioned before.

Models of note are the attack bike and speeder....
