Horus Heresy Interlude

by DaBoss on Sun Dec 15, 2013 2:30 pm
Just started on the next batch of Horus Heresy model build.
Fulgrim_Ferrus_2.JPG

That's 2 Spartan Tanks, Primarchs Fulgrim and Ferrus Manus drying out from there soak in water to remove any residual mould lubricant.

While waiting on the first parts of the Spartan hulls to set before adding the track units, decided to go ahead and build the two Primarchs.

Fulgrims acenic base makes for a very big model, but can now see why when together with Ferrus on the full scenic diorama makes sense (not built that yet - probably will when I start painting)

Looks like I will collect every Primarch model from Forgeworld - just such great sculpts and has having just got to 'Vulkan Lives', love seeing their different characters.

Malifaux Game - Viktorias vs Pandora

by DaBoss on Fri Jan 06, 2012 10:46 am
With the New Year passed, got my first game in 2012 at Malifaux.
A group of 4 players, the other guys being their first time out with their painted crews
We decided to have two games of Shared Turf War - get as many of your Crew into the opponents deployment zone.

Neil took his Rasputina Crew up against Mark's Lady Justice Crew, while my Pandora Crew faced off against Bill's Viktoria Crew.

Sorry no photos, as expected with learning the rules game took longer to play than expected (2.5 hours), should be quicker next time as we learn how our crews work and get use to not using dice!!!!

Short summary of major events:

Teddy charges with a 'Flurry' against sworded armed Viktoria and land two lots of weak claw hits then finishing off with a Teeth attack (just to see what it is like) getting a Severe hit for 10 damage - Viktoria is now missing a sizeable chunk of her body...

Unfortunately the other Outcasts then jumped on poor Teddy and between 5 attacks from Johan & Bishop is taken down,...

Events: Salute 2011

by Baragash on Fri Apr 08, 2011 1:23 am
Whilst I'm at Salute, thought I may as well use my discount from buying Dwarf King's Hold to pick up some Mantic Undead Revenant Cavalry and Dwarf Shieldbreakers, so I ordered them for pick-up.

German armoured train hits first hurdle ...

by Spack on Wed Aug 08, 2012 3:49 pm
I've managed to get a Hornby 8F locomotive + tender to base the Panzerzug on (it should be a German BR 57 0-10-0 locomotive but they're pretty expensive!), but now it's arrived I've found a couple of problems. The first is that I didn't realise it was a tender drive set I was getting, so I can't use the chassis I already had for the tender. The second is that the loco and tender are both a bit longer than the Panzerzug - while I could get out my dremel and trim them down to close to the right size, my son has decided that he likes the 8F too so the train will now be interchangeable; the 8F tender shell will be removed to put on the Panzerzug tender shell as the 8F shell is too high to cover over, and the loco shell will be built to fit over the existing 8F shell with about 15mm longer armour and clearance for the front bogey, allowing it to run as a German train or as a British steam train both in the 1942-1945 period.

Panzerzug BP44 Train OO Scratchbuild

by Spack on Tue May 15, 2012 1:13 am
Combining my interest in WW2, and my son's model railway, I've decided to build a WW2 era German Panzerzug train that can run on OO gauge tracks. My plan is to build a running train, utilising a second hand loco chassis (still scouring ebay for one that isn't too pricey) and axles (either new or stripped from damaged wagons), along with plasticard. I could make it easy and simple and convert an existing plastic kit but that's horrendously expensive. Available HO train kits tend to be resin based and cost a fortune. Scratchbuilding the should be pretty cheap, and allows for more customisation of the wagons to include. Who knows, maybe a Leopold railway gun will be included at some point in the future :)

First problem was finding blueprints of the locomotive and carriages, after a bit of digging around I managed to track down a copy of the Waldemar Trojca Panzerzug BP42/BP44 book which contains a few...
