Horus Heresy - further painting

by DaBoss on Sat Nov 02, 2013 5:37 pm
I'm just loving painting these new Forgeworld models.

Sons of Horus
Have given them a wash of Biel-Tan, followed by two dry brushings of Dawnstone, 2nd thin wash of Biel-Tan and another dry brush of Dawnstone - never gone to this much effort for rank & file troops!
Added the Pauldrons giving them the same washes and dry brushing, then picked out the edges with Hashut Bronze washed with Nuln Oil.
Finally finished today with painting bases Mournfang Brown.

I think I'll enjoy painting up another 35 more of these troops.

Board Games - Mantic Dwarf King's Hold

by Baragash on Sat Apr 09, 2011 1:13 am
So assembling Dwarf King's Hold is part of my Q2 Hobby Challenge

Managed to get the Dwarfs (5 warriors, 2 shieldbreakers, mastiff* and dead dwarf objective) done tonight, as well as basing the two Bloodletters for the challenge.
*Who seems to be eating table in the pic

The models are nicer nicer than the old GW 1-piece Dwarfs, but a few years behind the detail of the current GW range. However, I do quite like the models, plus the relative price means I definitely feel I get what I pay for.

Panzerzug BP44 First Mockup

by Spack on Tue May 29, 2012 8:23 am
To make sure that the locomotive and tender won't look too big or too small alongside the existing OO scale trains that my son has on his railway a card mockup of the Sketchup model has been made. Using the Flattery plugin it was pretty easy to unfold the model faces to create a flat printable mesh that could then be folded and glued.

This is scaled at 1:87 (which is HO scale rather than OO, but means that the train will be in proportion to the track width), and next to a small 0-4-0 steam engine looks about the right size. This card mockup will also be used to find a chassis to fit the locomotive, and I've already got donor parts for the tender chassis from an old flat bed carriage which has 6 wheeled bogies at each end (the tender is sitting on one of these bogies in the photo below).

Eldar 12/08/13 Farseer and Ranger Squad.

by Cain Tiberius on Tue Aug 13, 2013 11:31 pm
When I said I was interested in the new Eldar, I was given some figures. A Farseer (metal) 3 Warlocks (metal, but not going to use them). A box of plastic Dire Avengers (10 in a box! not 5 like the new sets). Some plastic guardians (not using as they've been butchered with glue) and a built plastic Falcon ( bit messy, but workable).

This week I've been painting up the Farseer and the Ranger squad. I trimmed the fin off the back of the Farseer's Helm. I think they look better without.

To do the blades I started with a white base, over which a used a watered down Scorpion Green. I then selective used Thraka Green wash to make parts o the blade...
