by Stryder on Fri Jul 26, 2013 10:29 pm
SM- "Good evening sports fans welcome to a special extended edition of Slam of the Day with the final two matches from round 1, as always I am joined by my green skinned compatriot Alan Grotson"

AG- "Thanks Snot, it has been a manic couple of weeks with controversy, old habits and ,of course, slams and strikes"

SM- "Thats right and tonight we begin with the the Cleveland Bay Buccaneers against the Dovah Kings"

AG- "This match had the hype of a final as both teams had come off some extreme pre-season friendlies with the Dovah Kings showing why that even though they are women, don't think they are weak"

SM- "And the Buccaneers having one of the highest body kill count of any team in Dreadball history. The match started with the Kings.."

AG- "Why are they called the Dovah Kings if they are a currently an all female team?"

SM- "Don't know you can ask them when you interview them for their round 3 game"

AG- "Erm...."...

Generic Points System to use in Kings Of War Rules

by DaBoss on Fri Jun 10, 2011 11:59 am
Having played a few games at the club and practice games at home, I've come to like the simplicity of the rules and the game dynamic it produces.

No more HeroHammer or huge tomes to look through to see what the rules subsection states, and easy to get a game done in a short space of time.

Unfortunately, in there eagerness to get rules out to use their models, Alessio did a fine job but I do wonder about the costing of some of the units.

Lets take for example a Simple Regiment from the Undead and the Elves (20 strong unit with no Standard Bearer or Musician).

Skeleton Regiment (20)
Sp 5, Me 5+, De 4+, At 10, Ne 6 with Evil Dead, Shambling Horde and Phalanx rules @95pts

Elven Spearmen Regiment (20)
Sp 6, Me 4+, De 4+, At 10, Ne 6 with Elite and Phalanx rules @110pts

Some stats can be ignored as they will have no difference between the effectiveness of each unit.
So the main differences are:
1) Speed - Elves will likely get the charge...

BA Blog 4th April 13: Bikes

by Cain Tiberius on Thu Apr 04, 2013 12:39 am
Howdy folks.

So painting has been slow since I finished the Hawk. I really don't like painting large models :/
But I have now finished a Raven Wing style squad. Yeah I know that's DA, but I think the unit composition fits well in any SM force. As my 2nd Co. is complete, these are from the 8th Co. (assault Co.) which is represented by a double green tear drop on the right shoulder. On models from this Co. I'm deciding to for go the embossed shoulder pads and just free handing the symbols. All the bases are made by me as usual.

The 2 bikes on the left side are from the Dark Vengence set. The 2nd bike to the right side is an eBay rescue. And the other 3 bikes, the attack bike and the speeder are all from my 10 year old force, with the same update techniques I've mentioned before.

Models of note are the attack bike and speeder....

Panzerzug "Geschutzwagen" WIP

by Spack on Fri Jun 15, 2012 10:44 pm
Another small update to the Panzerzug BP44 model train is the basic hull of the Geschutzwagen, which is armed with a 10.5cm turret.

This railcar is connected up to the tender, with the Kommandowagen between it and the Artillery/Flak railcar.

The next railcar in line will be the tank carrying well wagon which carries a Pz38t light tank and has a folding loading ramp, followed by a Panzerjaegerwagen which is a flat railcar with a Panzer IV turret. For the full BP44 duplicates of the railcars are added in the same order to the front of the train, plus two flat wagons which carry supplies and help protect the train should anything be in the way on the track. I'm still trying to decide where the Panzertriebwagen 51 will be placed,...

Board Games - Mantic Dwarf King's Hold

by Baragash on Sat Apr 09, 2011 1:13 am
So assembling Dwarf King's Hold is part of my Q2 Hobby Challenge

Managed to get the Dwarfs (5 warriors, 2 shieldbreakers, mastiff* and dead dwarf objective) done tonight, as well as basing the two Bloodletters for the challenge.
*Who seems to be eating table in the pic

The models are nicer nicer than the old GW 1-piece Dwarfs, but a few years behind the detail of the current GW range. However, I do quite like the models, plus the relative price means I definitely feel I get what I pay for.

GW...
