Grey Knights Dreadknight Conversion WIP Part 2

by Spack on Sat Apr 16, 2011 4:26 pm
One day on and I decided I didn't like my first attempt at the Dreadnought style torso. After grabbing my FW MKIV GK Dreadnought and putting it side-by-side with the Dreadknight I realised that the "sarcophogus" was too small. So with my trusty Oyumaru thermosetting plastic I set out to replicate the FW Dreadnought torso onto the Dreadknight. After 3 failed attempts (not enough GS the first time, too much the second, knocked it while setting for the third and distorted it badly, grr!) I now have a torso I'm happy with.

The armour panels were pressed separately to make it easier to mount to the body.

Building 30K Sons of Horus Force

by DaBoss on Sun Dec 08, 2013 9:10 pm
So after test painting 5 Sons of Horus models and liking what I did, I jumped in and bought myself a force of Sons of Horus as my birthday present to myself.
Put the order into Forgeworld for 45 Mk III Armour, Phobos Boltguns, 10 Plasma Guns, Sons of Horus shoulder pads, 2 Apothecaries and the Loken & Abbaddon box set. As I was putting such a big order in I decided to also pick up two Spartan Tanks and the Ferrus Manus Primarch model (see these models in a later blog).

Should have enough for a 1500pts+ force, swap in 2 Plasma Guns into each 20 Man Squads and ready to use as Chaos Space Marine Force.

This weekend I started on the Tactical Space Marines, washed and cleaned up the models; started fixing them together.

German armoured train hits first hurdle ...

by Spack on Wed Aug 08, 2012 3:49 pm
I've managed to get a Hornby 8F locomotive + tender to base the Panzerzug on (it should be a German BR 57 0-10-0 locomotive but they're pretty expensive!), but now it's arrived I've found a couple of problems. The first is that I didn't realise it was a tender drive set I was getting, so I can't use the chassis I already had for the tender. The second is that the loco and tender are both a bit longer than the Panzerzug - while I could get out my dremel and trim them down to close to the right size, my son has decided that he likes the 8F too so the train will now be interchangeable; the 8F tender shell will be removed to put on the Panzerzug tender shell as the 8F shell is too high to cover over, and the loco shell will be built to fit over the existing 8F shell with about 15mm longer armour and clearance for the front bogey, allowing it to run as a German train or as a British steam train both in the 1942-1945 period.

Paper tanks - Jagdpanther

by Spack on Tue Jun 05, 2012 7:40 pm
Built another paper tank today, this time a German Jagdpanther tank destroyer which is one of my favourite vehicles in World of Tanks. I resized a 1/100 scale paper kit I found online to 1/87 scale so it can be transported on the Panzerzug train.

Building the kit was fiddly as it had no instructions, and I've got a few detail parts left to add to it - machine gun, cupola, exhausts, jerry cans, and various bits on the superstructure, but the basic tank is complete.
