Age of Strife

I got the 1000pt Brit starter army and have just started putting it together. Now as far as I can see it is supposed to be 1000pts. However, I also got the Armies of Great Britain book. On the side of the box it lists the army which gives both a 2" and 3" mortar. According to the army book I can only take 1 mortar, either a light, medium or heavy. This is the same as the main rule book army lists. Am I missing something here?

You can take both mortars in a specific theatre list (I forget which). Thats why the box says both, however, you rarely need 2 mortar teams. On a side note the list of contents is an example of what you can make with the kit provided

I get that it is just an example but why put it on there if you can't actually make that army? I've been through the army book again and the only list I have found that allows you to take two mortars is the Market Garden list which you can't make with the 1000 pt box set.

mark, you can take multiple lists in any army up to your agreed points limit
the limits in the lists are for that list only, not for your whole army as long as you take the required hq & 2 troop choices you can build as many lists as you like, any restriction tends to be placed on numbers of dice but that's generally only in tournament play. I'd say generally at the raiders I've played games with a 12 dice maximum
