Announcing the "BER" event

Nothing 'plastic only' left to paint, which while sad for the competition, is lucky for me...

GW plastic kits, or GW plastic components? One of the things I want to use in my entry is a from a GW plastic upgrade sprue, that isn't sold as a kit on its own.

As far as I've seen, you can use any piece(s) from any GW plastics range (kits or upgrade so long as its plastic)

So if you want a Tau Riptide riding in the back of Landraider being pulled along by a Frost Pheonix.... And have Ork and Elf heads all over it... That is legal!

And it's not the organiser that are making these rules... It is the suppliers if the prises that set the rules.. IE... Gaming Figures and ultimately Games Workshop!

@Socaddict - If it's a plastic upgrade sprue, and it is sold as such by GW, then it is allowed to be used.

As Cain said, these are the limitations and restrictions that were imposed by the prize donor. Myself and Talus roughed out the announcement and it went back and forth before it was finalized. One item that was key from the beginning was that only GW plastic kits could be used and the winning prize vouchers could only be used for GW plastic kits.

The restrictions on no forge world or metal parts are there for a simple reason. If you were allowed to use them, then how much would be too much? Someone could, in theory, enter 3 forgeworld tanks and place a GW plastic space marine beside them saying "I'm entering a GW Space Marine and bulking him out with "some" forgeworld pieces." Ridiculous you say? Well saying "some" forgeworld or metal or resin kits or parts could lead to that very thing. We have then to maintain that any amount is too much. So to keep it simple and easy, NO forgeworld OR metal OR failcast or pieces in ANY medium from ANY company other than GW plastics are allowed.

There is simply no other way to ensure that the restrictions set by the sponsor (GW plastic kits only) can be maintained.

And again, thank you to all for the questions and comments. This is why the announcement for this event went up a month in advance. It is to allow people to be very clear on the rules, and I hope this explains why they need to be as specific as they are for this particular event.

In calling it daftness I didn't accuse any member of being daft.. the setting is daft.
People using legit purchase old stuff can't.. People buying new stuff can't. Its counter intuitive to the idea of a promotion.
One might as well say create a tweaking tool for windows 98 using locoscript to sell xbawkz- but its all said and done meh.

Now is your chance to finally finish those poor neglected projects you have been avoiding and breathe new life into them.

"People using legit purchase old stuff..." (GW plastic kits) can use them. Even if they were opened, looked at, dry fit, barely started, even in some cases primed, as long as they are GW Plastic Kits.

"People buying new stuff..." (if GW plastic kits) surely can.

It is in fact the basis of the idea for the promotion. The prizes are GW plastic kits, your choice. So the criteria for entering are GW plastic kits. Again, your choice.

It really is just that simple.

Of course not, (due to previous quarterly paint initiatives and everyone stopping any batreps or visible playing of 40k here last year I'm out of anything that meets those criteria, with no reason to shop).
I'm just hanging out at my bookies trying to work out whether Herne is swamped with work(by BER he'll be in the thick of it again), whether Hunter101 has anything non-forgeworld and whether Talus' can sit in the box.
I've put 2 bottlecaps and a marshmallow on Cain.

Edit- tell a lie, I have 2 generic (horrible)*plastic* isle of blood rats *only* undercoated... but still no.

I can set you up with some placcy if you really want KMB. I do have armies of bits boxes hanging around. You'll have to wait till I move to get it out of storage though.

@ Cain - he's saying that he thinks you'll win.

And it's a good thing his bookie has the funds to cover the 2 bottlecaps and the marshmallow.

And just to remind everyone, points won in the painter of the month contest do not count for the "BER" event and vice versa.

That would work!
Like I had said, here's to opportunity to dig out those old plastic kits you forgot all about.
