Looking good dude.

I got my entry finished at last. I thought I'd still be farting around with everything but until the deadline sailed. I'm happy with it, but I doubt it'll match up to the awesomeness that is this months entrants. I'll get it photographed tomorrow and posted up in the gallery... At least that's the plan!

Thanks guys :)

@Talus - I'm replicating a paint job I did first time round, so the blue needs to be deepened quite a bit yet. First time round was done with just a brush and pretty much took over my life outside of school (even though I really should have been revising for my a levels and not staying up till 4 and 5am painting a dragon). This one I got quite a bit done with the airbrush, but its still taking over my life lol! Apart from when the urge to paint these grey knights popped up (pics of those will end up in another thread somewhere)

I must admit I'm really enjoying dragons, so might be tempted to pick up some more at some stage :)

And in the spirit of updates, a glowy sword appeared (almost wrote power there, but in the grim dark past there is no power?)

Image done and uploaded. I've had to go a bit mental with this one to show off all the work I've put into it!

I hope the lighting shows off the fact all the highlights are painted on and not a trick of the light.

Looks great! Really like the tone of the armour, was that done with an airbrush or by hand? The blend on the sword is spot on as well - me likey!

Quick update from me. I'm pretty happy with Egrimm and the base, so they'll be getting left as is until I finish up the dragon. Still got a little bit of work to do on the scales, then its the bone elements and the faces. If I get them done in time, I've got a little something extra I want to add, but don't want to commit to it yet. Time is going to be the main factor now.

Pic isn't great as I've only got the tablet to hand.

It's coming together now Stu.

The main armour is airbrushed. I only use the brush that came with my compressor and I was really pushing it to it's limits with this. If I had the cash I'd definitely upgrade.

Thanks m8 - That armour has a very similar look to the grey knights Ive just done with the airbrush. The smoothness in the transition between light and dark that you have got is brilliant :)

I was using the airbrush I got with the compressor up until about a month ago. Did you get a single or dual action? My Auntie got me a dual action for xmas that I've just started using and the difference is night and day. From what I remember its an unbranded job and was around the 20 quid mark. A lad I used to work with did some pretty high end pc case artwork and he was happily spending upwards of 200 quid on just the airbrush! Don't really think that's justifiable at the mo tbh lol.

Update without pics tonight as I've left the camera, tablet and phone upstairs and I'm just about to head off to bed. The base and egrimm are complete, and I've now pinned and glued egrimm together and popped a pin in his bottom to help mount him on the dragon. I've spend all of tonight going round edge highlighting each individual scale (Lis's idea!, and layed down the base for the bone areas. I've added a little more light source highlighting to the red of the dragon. Still a fair way to go, and talking to Lis I wasn't sure if I would get it done. She's suggested I take Friday off as a flexi day so that I can get things finished properly (supportive wife or what!) so gonna run it past the boss tomorrrow. All being well that gives me a good chunk of time to get the last bits and pieces done - maybe add the 'extra' detail that Im toying with building (I know I've got pipe cleaners and glue, but not sure if I have any clump foliage left.....)

Will post some pics tomorrow of where I'm at with it and hopefully a plan of what I have left to do on Friday.

I'm going to have to pull out of this one.

Just started a new job, and its keeping me very busy, no way I will be finished in time...

Kind of a bad news good news thing Soc.

Glad to hear you have a new job, but sorry to hear you have to drop out this month.

Hopefully you'll have it sorted by next month's contest!

Eek! Was really looking forward to your entry too - but I know how it feels when work takes over, especially bedding in to a new job. Hope its going well for you, and I'd still love you to post progress on the project as and when you get chance to come back to it.

Ive had some more time tonight, and thanks to a genius wife and great boss have a full day to work on things tomorrow - as long as I can get to the shop for another devlan mud/agrax earthshade as Ive just run out. Again!. I've got a few details to work up on the dragon faces, and the bones to finish tomorrow. Then I should have an hour or two to tighten anything up before I take the photos.

Tried an experiment earlier on, rather than take pics, I tried out video recording with the tablet. I've posted up a couple of WIP 'spins' to youtube......

Baudros

Getting there now I think, although I still need to work out how I'm going to present the final pictures......

Saved it with some judicious superglue and a paperclip :)

Almost done with it now and to the point of assembly...... ish
