Anything Goes! - April 2014 Competition

Ok - go on then - even though I've had my ass handed to me in the last 2 rounds i'll have another go. I'm going for a monster - 'Galrauch - the great drake' from Warhammer Fantasy. It's an ambitious project for me - I'm no great modeller, but I want to do a conversion on the Dark Elves dragon kit. I hate the actual Galrauch model - it's way outsized by all the modern dragons, and so over carved you cant see the detail for all the detail! I want to create my own 2 headed dragon instead. I've seen lots of conversions online, where a second neck and head are stuck on, but I want to do something a little different. The fluff behind Galrauch was that he lead an attack by High Elves and their dragon-kin against a chaos tzeentch army, and fell upon it's leader a greater daemon of Tzeentch, who he promptly ate. Unfortunately what he ate didn't agree with him and he became twisted and warped by the raw stuff of chaos he'd consumed, and now the dragon wars with itself for mastery over the daemon.

Traditionally the dragon only has two necks, but I love the idea of it literally becoming two dragons, so I wanted to convert this kit with some parts I had left over from a warpfire dragon from forgeworld, creating a sort of Double Dragon. Not sure it's gonna work and I need to be pacient because I do not do well with carving and greenstuff / milliput. I also need to try and cast up a complete second neck, so this may end up going wrong!

Well Socaddict, I would wish you luck, but judging from your picture this month's contest should be a.....

Piece of Cake! :rofl

so ive hit a rather nasty snag!

screen accurate, even though it keeps changing

historically accurate, forgetting the little quirks from the show

which would you guys go for?

i mean, i love dads army, i want to do these models justice, but for the fatigues alone, which should i go with?

Unless you are going to display them on a base with a big "Dad's Army" sign, it might be better to go with historically accurate.

I can't decide what I want to do.
I thought about making an industrial type water tower out of the old airfix platform builder. But whilst tidying the modelling cupboard out earlier I found some plans I sketched for a foam board copy of a building that I once had for my 1/32 scale soldiers when I was a kid. Except this will obviously be for 40K.

So now I am stuck. :-(

What about a factory style building with an attached water tower?

Or possibly a toxic waste recycling center? Then the 'water' tank could hold toxic sludge, giving an idea for a toxic spill for dangerous terrain.

Just a couple of random thoughts.

I've got very specific ideas for each item. But I think I'll go with the building. I'll post a pic up of the rough sketch soon.

Talus I'd go for TV representation rather than historical colours that way you can have the fun of pointing out how they are wrong for the era and people will more easily tell who and what they are. Lets face it if you're taking model of TV characters in a game it's hardly the most hardcore acurate game in the world to start with.
What, no image sigs!

So I would like to enter this plan for a building for 40K.

Got the dragons neck cast up last night! Yipee! It worked! Thank heavens for Oyamaru!
Dropped it on kitchen floor this morning. Smashed into 9 pieces. Boooo!
Think I'll try again, with a wire rod in it this time!
Doh!
