AOS Painter of the Month Competition - May 2013

Re: AOS Painter of the Month Competition - May 2013

Postby Talus » Mon May 06, 2013 12:10 am

question

when did white, and i mean basic, every day, original white, stop being a constant shade?

im doing patch work on the mk2 with GW skull white over vallejo model air white, and shocker! GW white does NOT match vallejo! its darker!

had a little mishap with the masking tape i put down for the red lines, i didnt put it on ''tight'' enough in a few spots, red kinda leaked! it would have been worse but it was hand painted so i think i got lucky

once this clean up is done, i'll take another look, see if its still viable after all the problems ive had with this kit, if not, i'll change my entry to one viper

I've gotten the Misaki crew built now. Some very fine pieces, very delicate. And some cases confusing how it goes together. But they're assembled now. I've gone for a broken wooden floor kind of look for the bases, using match sticks.

Of course they aren't, you don't have Cain's "stick"toitivness!

"Wooden"t you like to be able to come up with imaginative bases like these?!

He'll certainly light up the competition with this entry!

You couldn't hold a candle to this level of work!

Okay, I'm out now!

I always liked edward woodward, but now i'm not so sure.
I'll have to ask Lucy fer her opinion.
(wow! where else can you find world war one matchstick puns???)
Woodn't you like to know?

Shouldn't you dedicate this comp to l.s. lowry?

I should have seen the match jokes coming, lol.

Talus faultters and Cain nudges ahead! Just kindling bud! Sorry you're having probs. :/ I was really looking forward to seeing the MK II.

Anywho.

Well the bases are painted now. I've tried to get the goldish orange faction colour of the Ten Thunders on the rim of the bases. On the Kaeris Crew it was purple for Arcanists.

And I've painted up Shang. I wanted to do mine different to the box, so instead of bright yellow flame, I went with blue / white flames.

blue flame! nice choice!

nice orange/yellow combo on the bases too!

kinda reminds me of ninetails, only blue!

as far as the mk2 goes, if i can get a replacement kit by the 15th, i'll re-enter it

even though the pictures didnt show the damage, i just wasnt happy with it

i have a method to paint it with minimal fuss, just gotta get my hands on a couple of spray cans and more masking tape!

Looking good Cain!
Colors really do work well together.

I've been busy with some personal stuff last few days, but by Thursday it should settle down a bit and I might be able to get something done on Le Guillotine!

Now, who else on AoS is going to throw a model in the ring for this month?
