ELITES - June 2014 Competition

I wish they where heavy it'd free up elite slots for other units.... Though with the new battle forged list being able to take as many detachments as you'd like (as long as you fulfil the minimum requirements) it's no long an issue.

Looks like I will be doing tau too. Can't decide between 3 battle suits or my riptides. Kinda wanna paint the riptides, but ideally to ensure continuity I wanna paint them both at the same time which I may not have time for in a month. Choices, choices.

I know the feeling Herne. Thanks to KInG's post, I'm re-thinking my bloodbride idea.
My wyches are black leather with red armor, I was going to do the bloodbrides in the obverse, red leather with black armor.

But I might have to drop back and punt and finally get my Incubi done. Will decide tomorrow.

I'd still do the blood brides. Using the alternate scheme keeps them different enough.

Sorry DL, thought Talus had taken care of it, but he's having computer troubles.

Enrty accepted, and good luck.

@Herne - I appreciate it, and I know they'd look different enough, but if I do up the incubi this month, I can do some wyches for infantry next month. I had figured on doing th ebloodbrides because I had a brand new box of wyches, but as I said, I still have the incubi to do as well. Will see later on when I take them (the incubi) out of the stripper.

sorry DL, I'm stuck using a tablet for site access right now and getting it to do even half the things I need it to is a pain in the drokking backside...

I'm afraid that you're stuck with just TW for thread maintenance right now :-(

Lol thats ok Talus it was just a friendly nudge from me. :D I hope you get your access back to normal soon, I know how annoying it can be to have to just make do even for just a short period of time. And thank TW for adding me.

Made some progress, washes done on the armour plates and I am really happy with the result. I'm going for a really battered look as if these troopers have been in the field for quite some time. The pictures don't do it justice but I used a combo of harsh dry brushing and AK/Mig washes to achieve this. The next step will be applying the white 'top' layer with some controlled dry brushing, then unit markers followed by chipping (I've got some chipping medium underneath the coat so should be easy enough). Once the plates are done I can crack on with the uniform :P

Where are you getting the AK products from? I've looked at the chipping effects as well as the filter paints on you tube and they seem rather useful and have had me intrigued ever since.

Just ebay, though the mig products are harder to come by. I think the trader was gb models or British modeller.

The chipping stuff is pretty decent I mean you could achieve the same with hairspray but I didn't like smell or the wait time. The filters I'm still playing with but so far I am massively impressed, give you depth and control that acrylic washes that just don't achieve, at least for me.

I knew it was too much to hope for for a local retailer to be stocking them.
