ELITES - June 2014 Competition

ELITES - June 2014 Competition

Postby timewizard » Sat May 31, 2014 3:21 pm

If the last few contests are any indication, we have raised the bar on these competitions to a whole new level! This month we expect to see work that is a lovely as a June bride! (See what I did there? ;) ) Now is the time to show just how elite a modeler you are, or how elite your painting skills might be, and when all is said and done, we will be dELITEd to announce the winner. So here’s the drill on this month’s event.

Elite Models

elite eagle.jpg

Rules are as follows (FOR THE ESSENTIALS ONLY, SCROLL DOWN TO THE RED TEXT)

Each contestant must submit a photo of an unopened box, unassembled model or unpainted model or submit a drawing or photo describing the project into the “Elites Competition” thread by June the 15th. Primed only models are acceptable but completely unprimed models are preferred. Direct casts or re-casts of any copyrighted material will result in the post being deleted and the poster being disqualified for that month’s contest.

A list will be posted by one of the moderators in this post listing all eligible contestants for the month's competition. No entries will be accepted or can be changed after the 15th of June. No exceptions.

During the month, wip photos can be put into the thread, and in fact are encouraged, but may not be placed in the competition gallery.

All completed entries must be submitted by the 27th of June and must posted in the competition gallery and no entries will be accepted after midnight GMT on that date. Only one entry per person will be permitted and the entry must consist of a single image. Multiple photos on the image are allowable but if more than one photo is uploaded to the gallery by any one entrant at any time, that entrant will be disqualified.

If an entrant has not completed their project by the deadline, they may still enter an incomplete entry if desired, but it will of course be judged as such. The only requirement is to post the entry by the deadline. The members of the site have the final word after all!

Voting will be held from just after midnight June 27th until midnight GMT on June 29th. At that time voting will be closed and the winners will be announced.

Every registered member of the site may vote. The total number of votes each member may cast will depend on the number of entrants as follows;
Up to 5 entries - 1 vote per registered member
6 to 10 entries - 2 votes per registered member
More than 10 entries - 3 votes per registered member
You can change your vote(s) until the poll is closed. No poll results will be revealed (even to the moderators) until the poll has closed.

ESSENTIALS:

For this month, entries must be either Elite Miniature(s) – a 40K model would have to be unit type elite but for any other game system we’re looking for something beyond the grunt infantryman – from single models to full units are acceptable. But don’t think we’re limiting it to game miniatures! Far from it. While this is not an “anything goes” event, we know that some folks here play games without an “elite” unit type, or for that matter don’t play any tabletop games but love to paint and model. Therefore, the choices are somewhat open here. A single figure that would be considered elite, would certainly qualify. And this month, if an entry is posted that is not “elite” from a game system, we would really like to get input from the rest of the site members on whether it should be acceptable. So be prepared to help us out here. The usual requirements of something NIB, unpainted or just barely primed still apply.

Entry open until June 15th
Contest closes Midnight June 27th

ONE entry per person

We look forward to seeing your entries! Good luck to all the entrants.

ENTRANTS SO FAR:

Talus - Sons of Talus Techmarine
Timewizard - Dark Eldar Incubi
Jay - 10 Vauxhall Astra scions
Socaddict- Blood Angels space hulk terminator
Darklighter - XV104 Riptide battle suit
_stu_ - Sternguard
Herne - Wraithblades

I'll try to get a finished entry this month!

I'll be doing a squad of Dark Eldar bloodbrides.

mmmmm that's is a grey area choice there TW. A lot of people might just consider them to be a troops choice when seen on the tabletop. No one plays their wyches as blood brides. That's a bit like taking a tactical squad, sticking some extra loin clothes on them and saying their sternguard, actually its worse, because them wyches don't get anything extra stuck on them :P

Perhaps Commander Jameson could drop you off in Thargoid space for the duration of your sentence.

Not sure I have anything for this months competition. I thought I could enter those ebay rescue tyranid warriors, but realised they are troop choices. Its all steam ahead to finishing my tyranids this month, so I may have to skip this one. :(

Well they are an elite choice in the codex, and my plan was to paint them quite differently from my regular wych squad. But point taken, I'll have to wrack my brain a bit to see if I can come up with another choice. I think I might have some unfinished Incubi kicking around. I'll just have to find them, strip the base coat off them, and take a pic.

Would Incubi or Wracks be better?
