In theory, and providing the winds are aiming straight up, the planets align, east is really west, pluto is still a planet and that black is the new black

I must admit my progress has been much slower than expected. My excuse though is my free time has been taken up with gaming to get my back in the swing of things for an up coming tournament this weekend.... I'm all sorted now so I aim to get moving more this week.

Haven't made much progress, hoping to get cracking on it this weekend. All of the prep work is complete, here's a pic with the yellow filler primer coat just prior to final sanding.

Since then it's had a base coat of satin black, looks like gloss in this photo but it's not.

Next coat will be dark steel grey on the main chair part, with silver edging on the top front, purple cushions, and coloured lights on the consoles.

Nowhere near where i'd planned to be at this point, fact i'd planned on being done!

ImageImageImageImage

still a ways to go though...

of the 10 passenger cars, only 7 will be used on the train itself, the other three will be repurposed into a road block! the reasoning for this is that the three being moved to the block, are the original 3 that came with the set, they're pretty badly damaged and frankly, the paint scheme just doesnt work on them... so plan b!

the engine still has a way to go, reds need redoing as they've worn as ive been handling it painting the rest of it, and i still need to throw down some greys on the black areas to lift the detailing a bit

the remaining 7 passenger cars will receive lots of clean up, some lighter greys (similar to the side bars on the engine) and gold work on the crests (door and rear), with any luck they'll come out looking pretty decent :)

in all, while im pleased with how the engine is coming out, its WAY away from my original plan, which was a black/white break up over everything, sadly it just wouldnt translate from source material to model, but these things happen, so im making the best of it!

urgh i hate it when i double post things...

so, entry is now closed folks! all current contestants have until midnight on the 28th (Monday!) to finish up and get an entry in!

if everyone gets it in sooner, we'll start voting early!

now... another update!

ImageImage

still not as far on as i'd like, bad wrist is really starting to annoy...

still needs clean up on the line work, some highlights and the crests done in gold, but i'm almost ready to call these done!

then its off to the stands! they've been assembled, sanded and sprayed, just need to black out some areas, do the dirt, throw in some markings

then start thinking about the graffiti! which while i think is a good idea for the overall theme of dropzone, im not sure my wrist is up to it right now...

You know, you really do have to thank Timewizard for slowing me down :P

he waved the new Battride game under my nose, and in 3 days i've spent... well, 3 days playing it!

It's his fault! i swear!

I think I've done all I can with my entry. I need to make an appointment to get my eyes tested, I think I need reading glasses, trying to paint the details was just a blur. Plus I need new paints, most of mine are dried out lumps - I managed to just about bring the purple back to life with acrylic medium and a lot of stirring.

I'll take better photos over the weekend and post them up, it's too dark right now and I don't have a light box. Plus I need to get Vader and a Royal Guard out of the attic to stand by the Emperor's side.

Looking good guys... It'll be down to the wire with my entry. I was meant to get some quality painting time today, but I've miss spent my day nursing a hangover.

Entry added. Not entirely happy with it, but would need a strip and repaint to fix it properly. Now to pack it away with the rest of my collection until I have a cabinet to display it in.
