Postby timewizard » Tue Feb 25, 2014 4:16 pm

Building Competition

Rules are as follows (FOR THE ESSENTIALS ONLY, SCROLL DOWN TO THE RED TEXT)

Each contestant must submit a photo of an unopened box, unassembled model or unpainted model or submit a drawing or photo describing the project into the “Building Competition” thread by March the 15th. Primed only models are acceptable but completely unprimed models are preferred. Direct casts or re-casts of any copyrighted material will result in the post being deleted and the poster being disqualified for that month’s contest.

A list will be posted by one of the moderators in this post listing all eligible contestants for the month's competition. No entries will be accepted or can be changed after the 15th of March. No exceptions.

During the month, wip photos can be put into the thread, and in fact are encouraged, but may not be placed in the competition gallery.

All completed entries must be submitted by the 28th of March and must posted in the competition gallery and no entries will be accepted after midnight GMT on that date. Only one entry per person will be permitted and the entry must consist of a single image. Multiple photos on the image are allowable but if more than one photo is uploaded to the gallery by any one entrant at any time, that entrant will be disqualified.

If an entrant has not completed their project by the deadline, they may still enter an incomplete entry if desired, but it will of course be judged as such. The only requirement is to post the entry by the deadline. The members of the site have the final word after all!

Voting will be held from just after midnight March 28th until midnight GMT on March 30th. At that time voting will be closed and the winners will be announced.

Every registered member of the site may vote. The total number of votes each member may cast will depend on the number of entrants as follows;
Up to 5 entries - 1 vote per registered member
6 to 10 entries - 2 votes per registered member
More than 10 entries - 3 votes per registered member
You can change your vote(s) until the poll is closed. No poll results will be revealed (even to the moderators) until the poll has closed.

ESSENTIALS

For this contest the criteria is some type of building. It can be an intact building or a ruin. It can be on a scenic base or a stand alone. Please do not submit a large scenery piece with something like an outhouse or shed on it. Scenery will be the topic for a future contest. Do not submit a fortification, these will be the subject of a future contest. So please no bastions, bunkers, defense lines or fortress of redemption (or the like). Let’s keep it to the subject. When submitting the building, please include a description (i.e. store, hab block, med center, etc.) and if possible please specify which game system it is for.

A question on reproduction of pieces. I understand and agree with the rule to disallow recasting part or whole kits. But how about card buildings available with permission to print/copy by the manufacture? I ask as Hawkwargames have a whole bunch of printable buildings on their site with the said permission.

If someone puts printable material on their site with permission to reproduce, then it is not copyright material.

It would be like finding pictures of signs or lettering and using them on your building. As log as it's not directly copyrighted, it's okay.

It's about time you decided to jump into the pool matt!

Your terrain pieces for 40K inspired a number of my own.

I struggle to paint the one model a month I do for the Ironwatch magazine. Finding time is my challenge.

I also have a load of stuff that I got a few years ago that I'd like to try and make into some kind of command bunker. Will dig them out and post a pic.

A command bunker would probably fall into the category of a fortification, no?

And we're not doing fortifications until August.

Is it possible to find a simple building or ruin to do?

Also, forgot to mention in the first post, please do not place any potential entries into this thread until March the 1st.
