Only thing I need to know Is rules for materlizing/dematerlizing now, what can a unit do when it does, does it deploy a set distance etc, can it move/shoot enter a building etc.

IIRC materialising is treated the same as disembarking from a drop ship vis-à-vis restrictions, but you get the option of using the half move either before or after being gated.

Dropships can make upto 2 embark/disembark actions per turn. (2 embarks or 2 disembarks or 1 embark and 1 disembark)
When Embarking/Disembarking or Shooting, the Dropship can only move upto half its movement (It CAN embark/disembark and still shoot)
Ground units can move upto 3" when disembarking PLUS half their own movement. Ground units have to be within 3" when they intend to embark. (Note- The half ground unit movement can be before embarking OR after disembarking if it does both in the same turn) Ground units that disembark can not fire the turn they disembark.

Gates are treated the same except they have to adhear to the Gate masses listed in their profile. And obviously, a unit going into one gate can come out of a totally different gate. Unlike the other factions, the gates are not tied to specific units.

The example in the book shows 2 Eden gates (mass 3) 1 gate has 3 Tomahawk Gravtanks going in gate A (1 mass each = 3) and exiting gate B. In the same turn it also shows a Warstrider (mass 3) going into gate B and exiting gate A.
So the total mass of each unit 3, and each gate made 2 actions each.

The gates can also material units off the table when they become availible so long as the gate still have actions availible.

Cool so the mass limit only counts at one gate when going from one to the other?

hawk wargames you tube channel now. Even I watched them last night to see if we were doing anything wrong, which we are. Apparently on his video he says you can only have a dropship at three different altitudes.

1. 6" from ground
2. 2" from ground (on the deck)
3. Landed.

if a building it more than 6" you have to fly round it. !!!

Actually that's an interesting question. I had read it to be 2 activations (like other Dropships) of upto 3 mass each. But you could be right. Although that means an entire force could disgorge from a single gate which does sound right.. I'll look into that when I have a bit of time (got a lot on today)

I don't recall any of this coming up or being a problem. What were YOU doing wrong then?

we agreed you could fly over any building so long as u had the ability to do so with the movement distance. You just took 'the height of the building' - 6" (x2 if you went up and over and then down again) from that distance.

but that is only the case if u agree with your opponent beforehand. Normally you have to fly round them...

Chris, do you rate the Scimitars? Everything I've read on them says they are too limited, a lack of MF with only a narrow arc and for a few points more a Gladius does a better job. Yes it has the range and ignores countermeasures but usually it doesn't get to use it.

Tbh I don't even rate the gladius. I think that the sabre is so good that the gladius is too expensive points wise. Id rather have 3 sabres than 2 gladius. There slow and hit the same as a pair of sabres. Yes they have 2dp's but so do 2 sabres and if you position the sabres properly your opponent can only kill 1 of them. The gladius can be insta killed with a high energy shot but an insta kill is wasted on a sabre.
the scimitar is a good anti-phr vehicle. It cuts down movement and can reach out and touch those back of the board lurkers. Id rather have scimitars as they do what the sabres can't.

I had this thought process when comparing the camian to 3 tomahawks. Only I concluded that the caimans are better.
