1500 pts UCM

1500 pts UCM

Postby markb » Tue May 20, 2014 1:35 pm

After deciding to get in to this game I've been looking at the forums and downloaded the FFoR. Using it I have come up with a 1500pt UCM army. It uses the items from the starter set plus others I will have to buy. My question is is this a good competetive list, do I have a good ratio of AT/AA? I will be using the Wolverines as B variants for a bit of demolition work. Thing is, I haven't read the rulebook as yet so don't know if this composition is legal. I got some validation errors with FFoR as it wouldn't let me put the Rapiers with the Sabres in the Albatros or the second squad of Legionaires in with the second Bear. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Looks good. Might be a bit worried with all that armour in a single dropship at this points level. But having the Gladius' separate might be enough to see you though.

I see what your saying, it would be annoying to have them shot down! after having another go with the FFoR I dropped the Albatross and changed one squad of Sabres for a squad of Katanas and added missile pods to a few Condors and the Raven A with the spare points. The new list looks like this:

Standard Army
Standard Roster [1495/1500 pts]
Field Command [460 pts]
Kodiak: Kodiak(Lieutenant) [168 pts]
Praetorians: 2x Praetorians, Raven A(+Missile Pods) [132 pts]
Ferrum: Ferrum [160 pts]
Armored Formation [429 pts]
Sabre Squad: 3x Sabre, Condor [142 pts]
Rapier Squad: 3x Rapier, Condor [166 pts]
Katana Squad: 3x Katana, Condor [121 pts]
Legionnaire Corps [229 pts]
Legionnaires: 3x Legionnaires, Condor(+Missile Pods), 2x Bear [151 pts]
Legionnaires: 3x Legionnaires [78 pts]
Special Ordnance [149 pts]
Gladius Squad: 2x Gladius, Condor [149 pts]
Expeditionary Group [94 pts]
Wolverine Squad: 4x Wolverine B, 2x Raven B [94 pts]
Air Wing [134 pts]
Archangel Squad: 2x Archangel [134 pts]

Looks good.
The Albatross is only a problem to faster moving enemies like the Shaltari and Scourge.
Its one of those gambles that make the game fun :-)

Priced it all up on the Hawk website. With the starter set and the additional models it's coming in at just over £200. That's for the rules, a starter battlefield and a 1500 pt army. GW could learn a lot from them! I must say I'm quite excited about this game, I haven't felt like this about a game for a long time, not even FoW or Bolt Action, although I am looking forward to playing BA but it isn't giving me as much of a buzz as this is, it looks like this could reinvigorate my love for the hobby, just hope it lives up to the hype and my expectations.

does anything...lol

best way is to expect the worst and then you wont be disappointed.

as for your first list, im sure that was same chris played me with the other night!!!

I wouldn't buy from hawk obviously, u get it cheaper elsewhere.

and I wouldn't but the starter army UCM and rulebook, I'd buy the starter boxset, which has them both in for less and a scourge starter army also, and a lot more.

I have agree with KInG there. The 2 player starter set is amazing value for money. UCM starter set, Scourge starter set, full rule book (not condensed like GW), dice, tape measure, counters, ref sheets, 3'x4' play mat and 10 buildings for less than 1 starter set in resin...
The detail is slightly less on the vehicles than their resin cousins.., but it is barely noticeable. The detail on the plastic infantry is less then the metal ones. But I've never felt the need to bemoan this.

And dropping the Albatross for 3 Condors is definitely for the best. You're less likely to loss a huge chunk of your force in one go, and it gives you a little more tactical flexibility.

Yeah, it's the best starter set I've ever seen. Apparently it's a loss leader, makes sense, gets people hooked.

Dave's 1500pts army deal is a good starting point surely?

Looks like a nice mix of units. I can't comment on the Ferum or Longbows though as I haven't used them yet.
But you could drop the Expeditionary group and add both the Wolverines (Scout) and Praetorians (Exotic) to the Command group. Remember the 1/3 points max in a single Battle group doesn't count the Comanders points, only his Kodiac.

I wanted to go but can't make Saturday :/ I'll be wandering round Wartorn on Sunday though hopefully.
