you kidding me? the models are amazing! the detail, the lack of faults in the castings, I've made 23 models, only two have had issues!

let's face it...

hawk listens to the player base, wants input on the rules so they can fix it, and theyre just getting started !

we are stuffed for complaints, they're perfect!

Have you seen some of GWs Epic stuff? Ropey doesn't come in to it. Or the Warmaster stuff, which is the same scale. Some of GWs 30mm scale stuff is amazing, some is quite meh (I bloody hate that MRAP thing they brought out for the new IG codex, looks like a shed on tracks! And I've never liked the SM fliers, apart from the DA one). To say they are the finest model makers on the planet is quite a stretch, yes they have probably, in general, a better range than anyone else though but it isn't perfect.

Also you have to remember Hawk are a new company and still relatively small, go and have a look at GWs very early stuff, god it was awful! I think that for a first attempt they have done a great job. And I dare you to throw a FW or Failcast model at a wall like you allegedly can with the Hawk models (not that I will be trying this experiment, of course), I'll lend you my Dyson to clear away the results.

Don't have any resin Hawk stuff yet, but I did order a kodiak and a desolator, so I'll have to let you know when they come in.

The failcast from GW....well the nickname everyone has given them pretty much sums it all up.

The plastic sprues that came with the starter set are well done. No flash, few mold lines and nice detail, particularly for 10mm.

Cardstock buildings went together quickly and easily. I like that the starter set gives you everything, minis, rules, board, scenery, everything you need to play a skirmish game. No extra codexes to buy for each and every army or faction, and even the experimental rules for new units are available to download from the Hawk website.

Pretty impressive.

Yes I know... I was only joking about the models... I've got about 50 resin ones from them. :)

I was trying to find 'something to moan about' ... But I can't. Lol

I can! Finally, after going through the rulebook, I have the first official complaint!

And I'm serious about this.

The book is printed on such nice, glossy, durable, thick paper, even with meticulously folding the pages, the rulebook won't stay open on it's own past page 26!

Means I have to balance something on the left hand page so I can read the book while eating my sandwich!

:oldfist Dang quality merchandise!!!

I have heard good things about the quality of detail on hawks stuff, but a lot of the range aren't particularly pleasing on the eye. And to compare what hawk are doing now with 2020 tech to what gw started doing in 1978 is a bit misleading. Also as far as having no complaints about rules and them listening to fan base etc, that's what GW were like in there early days too. All start up companies have the potential to go the way of the messed up big boys. Once hawk has a fan base the size of 40k then will be the time to judge if hawk can listen to and keep all of its players happy.

Well, I agree that time will surely tell, but from what I see so far, I like the game. As far as how the models look, anything new will look a bit...odd. But certainly no more weird than say a chronos pain engine, or some new nids. And don't even get me started on daemons! :)

The support on the web site is good as well. The new units are posted and you can download the experimental rules. Great way to look at a unit before you commit to purchasing it.

GW's shortcomings are nothing to do with their size, they used to listen to people once they were big too, see: a substantial part of 3rd Edition.

Bane, horses for courses, I actually like their stuff. And you can compare them, I'm not talking about manufacturing or sculpting techniques, I'm talking pure aesthetics.

Bara, wasn't just 3rd ed 40k where they listened, they did it with 6th ed WH as well and got rid of the Hero Hammer phase of 4th and 5th.

Yes and also in both cases they released trial rules for a whole phase in Chapter Approved/Warhammer Chronicles in WD (Assault Phase/Magic Phase).
