I surrender!!!

Mark, fair enough if your comparing new with new and you still prefer, but comparing hawks modern day stuff to GW early stuff is a slanted argument.

I think Hawk will be successful despite the models, they are clearly capturing a lot of GW players that are moving on because they don't like the current set up of 40k, I don't reckon these people have the best models in the world at the top of there agenda so the strength of the rules should pull them in and more than likely keep th em there too. I am considering buying even tho I am not a massive fan of the models.

I think one should always be careful about making sure statements like that are informed. A not too in depth browse of DZC conversations would probably show the aesthetic of Hawk's models is very popular (though the Scourge slightly less than the others).

Similarly, I don't see what all the fuss is about with Infinity models, but I also know that it's pointless me trying to hold that out as something against the company* because there is a popular view that they are amongst the best metal models on the wargames market.

*I have nothing against Infinity, but if I did....

making sure statements like that are informed... :| what's that mean for the uneducated amongst us plz :)

the models for DzC are good quality, for sure.. but the design/sculpts I feel are a little strange. If I was designing a futurisitic walking machine, I wouldn't think of this, although its not a million miles away and therefore acceptable in my game ;)

Thing is I think GW create the games just to sell models, Hawk have created a balanced game and to a point the models are secondary. It's like the old argument about computer games, create a good enough game and to a point graphics are secondary. Some of the most immersive games of all time have looked like a cows arse - Championship/Football Manager (the worlds most addictive spreadsheet), Civilisation, the Baldur's Gate games. That's not to say that aesthetics aren't important in a tactile hobby like ours, it's just I don't think it's as important as the actual mechanics of the game.

Also it doesn't matter how nice a bare model is, a shite paint job will ruin it. This is one of the reasons I waited so long to get a HE army, I wanted to wait until my painting skills were good enough to do the models the justice they deserved.

This is the point I am making which is why I agree 100%

Bars, I am not quite sure what your posts means or even if it was a response to me, my opinion of the DZC models is just that, mine, I am not commenting on anyone else's behalf, I just don't like the look of most of the ranges. I am sure the quality is good like I have heard, its just the models are not that adventurous in the design department.

I think it's a little tough to be overly adventurous in 10mm scale!

Trying to figure out what you mean about being adventurous. Is it the type of models? The detailing? The classes? The rules?

Just curious Bane.

I can understand what you are saying Bane. I feel that way about WarmaHordes. Looks a fun game to play with a reasonable rule set. And it is clearly popular. But I just can't get myself to like the aesthetics of it. The regular humanoid pieces I love. But the Warjacks and larger beasts just seem way off to me.

Rules I can't comment on as I have not seen, but again I have heard there are solid, balanced and suitable for tournies play. This is the reason the game gets my interest, purely the rules.

With regards to the models, I just don't like the design of a lot of the models in each of the factions. Not many of them reach out and grab and say buy me I am a cool looking model. I like the caimen and the athena but outside of them the rest are meh.

Like I said I'll buy this game despite of the models, because I am hopefully for the rules.

Infinity on the other hand, I would buy them models just cos they are cool, would not a care about the rules. One mans poison and all that.

Me and Chris are getting to grips now with the game. You can tell because our game was like a big futuristic intense chess game last night. Little words were exchanged apart from some gentle jibes about what to do next, which hid a more sinister intent most of the time....loll
We played the one with the central objective counting as double: ....insert name here.... And it wasn't till the last infantry who activated and rolled to search the for an objective did one finally get found.
So the game could have gone either way. If either of us had found an objective before turn 4 they would have won, coz they'd of been off the board and scored double. For that reason I see it more as a draw even though it was my infantry who found it.
And Chris stood up and said surprisingly, I hated that game, lol. I think it was because we were fully concentrated on it for the entire game and it was a little tiring for that reason alone. Thx for the great game Chris... Which I won, or did I already mention that fact. Lol

I hated it because you won.
lol I haven't played a game like that for a long time.
We both just zoned out I think. If I had any hair I would have pulled it out in frustration and anxiety.
Great game excellent rule set. As I said on Thursday its like playing 5th ed 40k again but a lot less forgiving and a lot more tactical. Every activation I was presented with 2 or 3 solid choices but those choices narrowed choices I would make later on in the game and it took a lot of concentration to follow the decision trails that opened up.
This game takes your full concentration. As you say its chess the wargame. Brilliant.

They will ask for a photo and take a week+ to ship a replacement.

I had a problem with one of the Mk2 walkers it had 2 different types of leg, one had 2 toes and the other only had one.
