I surrender!!!

I surrender!!!

Postby timewizard » Wed Jun 04, 2014 5:33 pm

After reading through the posts in this forum, and finding the beasts of war intro and a few other vids on you tube, I decided to take the plunge and get into DZC.

My starter set arrived today, and I will be getting the models up and running while working on this month's elite contest! Hope I didn't bite off too much!

So I guess my question is, once I get the starter armies up and running and get a few skirmish games under my belt, what next?

Is it worth it to get another starter set to beef up the forces? If so, does anyone want to buy a rulebook?

Looking forward to getting into this game, like what I see of the rules so far.

A second 2p starter is good if you intend to play the bigger games. All the units in the 2p starter are standard requirements in all the scenarios. The extra table matts and buildings wont go amiss either.

But I'd hold off getting that until you decide you are really serious about it. After playing the beginner scenario a couple times, you next purchases should be Command Unit and Command Cards for your faction (or both if you are doing both.)

I found a couple of good deals on ebay, so I already picked up a kodiak and a desolator. Figured I'd need them eventually. Once I decide if I like the game (have a feeling I will though :) ) I'll probably look into the 2nd starter set. Just didn't know if it would be a waste getting 2 of everything.

It's never a waste getting two of everything, especially for the Scourge. Form what I've read the Hunters work best as a battlegroup of six. Also the second set of Reapers will come in handy for keeping the Desolater alive as he will be public enemy number one for enemy fast movers! And as Cain said, the second set of battle mats and buildings will give you a 6' x 4' board with twenty buildings, basically the same as you get in the cityscape box. The rulebook you could sell on eBay. Six Condors should be enough and as they are all from the starter set they will be the same style with the glass canopy so will fit together better than if you got the resin ones.

Cheers Mark, thanks!

Quick question before I start on the models. Is it okay to just glue the guns and turrets into a static position on the UCM and Scourge vehicles? They don't have to face the target like 40K, do they? If so, then it would probably be best to magnetize the turrets.

No, gun facing is irrelevant. With the Scourge though remember that they have to fit in to the bays on the Marauders.

most don't do that though... most ppl model the AA pointing up and the AT pointing horizontal. ;)

Makes sense. Thanks all, will save me a lot on magnets! Glue, I have! ;)

Now I have to decide on paint schemes, finish stripping my incubi, and assemble a few buildings!

Got a friend of mine that I shoot darts with who enjoys a good game of chess.

DZC doesn't seem to be too far away from that game, at least with the starter armies.

Course, I've still barely scratched the surface of the rules. Will know better as I go along, but so far I like what I see.

The only downside is, I can't see many back and forth rules debates in the future! ;)

That's the problem with a well written, thoroughly tested ruleset - everything works! :)

Talus, they've just employed someone to write fluff for them. :)
