Scourge Paint Scheme

Scourge Paint Scheme

Postby timewizard » Fri Jun 13, 2014 7:41 pm

After some trial and error, and wanting to come up with something different, I have decided on this scheme for my Scourge forces.

Looks fantastic.
Don't take this the wrong way, as I said it's great..... but it does remind me of a fruit salad chew. Lol can you still get those.

I don't know!

But if they were good and it reminds you of them, then I guess it's okay!

Thanks, now I can start on the rest of the scourge force!

Looking good bud. I can imagine a full force of these would be mighty impressive.

This one was just a test model to see if I liked the colors and to test how quickly I could get a painted force on the table.

I came out to being a simple 4 step process after priming them, so i should be able to get a fair amount done in a short period of time.

Next I'll have to post a picture of how my UCM are turning out.

I think that's the best bet with models this scale. My UCM and the few PHR that I've done have been very simple schemes that can be done quickly.
The scourge I just painted took me a lot longer than I'd have liked. But I'm not intending really expanding them, so no big deal really.

The UCM I'm just doing in a gray prime, then a badab black wash, and then drybrushing highlights. With the exception of adding the marker lights for detail, they're pretty much done.

For the scourge, I airbrushed stripes of Vallejo Moon Yellow, filled it in with Vallejo Hexed Lichen, then a wash of Vallejo Sepia Shade and finally highlighted with Vallejo Gold Yellow. (and thank you to Talus for the suggestion of a brown wash rather than a black one!) I tried using burnished gold for the highlights, but it just didn't look right.

I think my experience with FoW models helped in painting at this scale. Like Cain said, you need to really keep a simple scheme. You can't try to put too much detail into the painting.

Hey! Thanks all!

So added my UCM (can ya tell I picked up the starter set? :) )

These are the start of my UCM force;

Still need to add some metallics and the finishing work, but here they are so far.

The scourge are airbrushed. The UCM is just a simple gray scheme, army painter uniform gray, then wash and highlights.

Still have to pick out some metal bits (engines and guns) and I think I want a light metallic blue on the front part of the railgun.

Right, so here's the scourge force finished.
First up the vehicles:

And here is how I did the scourge warriors:

Now on to finish up the UCM force!
