ooooh... Tim might not play you going 5th only! :P

I was thinking we should start a "my real name is..." thread. You can guess what mine is but it might be nice to know in advance for the less obvious ones...

We only really know 5th edition so we're sticking with that, sorry. :)

Buw ha ha ha ha , but you know the rule you volunteer to play tim you volunteer to play by his rules (unless you send 28 grouchy PMs at him  )

@ KMB & Matt: i know you are only joking, but both Kate and I were really looking forward to that game, so its not really a laughing matter. :(
(it would have been our first time playing another couple, and now she cant join in)

anyway...

its unfortunate, but ive sent a PM to see what we can do instead. :)

cheers

Whoops sorry Kate, can I make amends by offering a wine gum and wishing it gets sorted out for you?
Still worthy of comment on your turf though tim
So when you play both of me will kate be playing- am I playing 4th ed on sunday morning? (I'm sorry I'm much less evening party and much more that guy on the couch you can't work out who invited him)
(I could drag a +1 up to me to pretend it was doubles... they'd have to still be fairly smelly from the night before to not mind me dragging them round though)

my tuppence on the matter in a cold sense is its a fair bit easier to learn 5th from 4th than 4th from 5th.. you just flip a few rules controversies make everything visible all the time , run a bit (and in bigger games account for ramming)

well for the 4 x CP vs 1500 FOC-filler, i think Kate would prefer to watch. if we keep it till sunday as planned, that might give me enough time to familiarise myself with 5th enough to use the new rules for all the different weapons/unit types - failing that, we can fall back to 4th ed (i thought thats what we agreed?).

for our 1 on 1 game, you can choose between 4th ed = any of the lists (Tau, Zombies or IG, or Eldar if Kate isnt using them at the time) OR 5th ed = Zombies (or something else if im more familiar with the required rules by then).

although if you play Kate it will have to be 4th ed = Eldar. :)

Since it would just be a friendly game, I'm sure we could help you with the 5th ed rules, besides - we've only had three games under 5th (about six games of 40k ever) so I think it would be more of a balanced game under 5th.

The reason we don't play 4th at all as is because it is simply too complex to worry about the old rules as well as the new ones, for us new players. We're focusing our time on learning one set of rules which is hard enough.
We also prefer the 5th ed rules and they make more sense to us. :)
