That's looking great.

As to pic size, the site auto-resizes. The final entry has to be a single image, but you can create a collage, and the competition album will resize to 800x600 for normal display although it will go up to 1024x768 if you send a larger image and someone clicks on it in the gallery.

And now with some paint, still more work to do, mustard twist top provided the top bit, was wondering about some sort of control panel as well . . .
The light does does not add much when its on unless the room is gloomy.

Hey, no fair, that is far too good a terrain objective marker, I want it disqualified on the the grounds that... that... that.... NZ'ers are not allowed to be good at modelling AND rugby...

For my entry I am going to use a resin terrain piece (a power generator) that has been unloved and unpainted (although not unused) ever since i bought it (many many years ago) as part of a pack of battlefield accessories (dont remember the manufacturer, but I got 3 packs: oil drums, ammo cases & wooden boxes, and the generator came in the first pack, IIRC).

I have just given it a good scrub with a toothbrush and some hot soapy water, and then cleaned up the flash with a knife and file. Once it is completly dry I will undercoat it (Chaos Black), and when I am sure the paint will stick I will attach it to a 40mm base (I have already prep'ed one of the ones Ruffian sent me). I am then going to base it using my usual method, and paint it to match my pipeline from the last comp.

I will post updates as I make progress. :)

EDIT: OK, the generator is undercoated and glued to the base, and the PVA and sand is drying around it. once dry I can give it a second coat of PVA to seal the sand on, and then undercoat the base (I have already undercoated the base rim). If I am lucky I will be able to slap some of the base colours on tomorrow evening. :)

EDIT2: 2nd coat of PVA is done and drying. :)

The gallery album is now open for posting entries. Closing date for entries is 23:59 GMT on Mon 20th April, although it'll actually be open until I close it sometime on Tuesday morning. Good luck to everyone!

I've got my generator built, but it still needs a scenic base and cables hanging out the side (the interior is supposed to be a pair of large power cells), and possibly a few more details. I'm also considering drilling out the circular parts of the dozer mount I'm using as a tow rigging, I'm tempted to put a bar across between them and have a chain or a rod with loop hanging from it where it would then attach to the vehicle towing it. I might also remove the upper pistons, not sure yet.

Despite it also being a mobile one like Jimster's, this was already in the works before he posted his pics. I ended up going with tracks mimicking the shape of the Chimera or Leman Russ in order to try and have it fit with the rest of the IG army. I'm also trying to figure out what to put inside the wheel area to fill out the huge gap, I might go with boxing it in and have a panel overlapping the edges of the wheels so I can pretend it has suspension in behind. Or I might just add some bits to represent suspension components. Think think think ...

I made a few adjustments since the last pic:

Image

I've added towing chains hanging and coiled onto the ground, and some "gubbins" to the space between the wheels in the track area. I also added some rear track guards, I'm trying to find my strip of very small T beam to add to the bottom edge of the box area to make it look like the track guards are run the length of the body too.

Still needs a few more details, but I think I'll start on the base tomorrow - I'm going to include tracks in the mud/sand showing where it has been towed, along with the cabling - just trying to figure out where to get plenty of 0.5mm diameter wire, I have brass rod that thickness but it would be easier to just use rubber or very thin electrical cable as it would coil more naturally. I also need to use some to create the hookup between the towing vehicle and the generator, as there will need to be a way for the generator tracks to be powered/controlled from the towing vehicle.

Jimster, that looks great. Are you sure you don't want to upload a larger pic though? The album allows up to 800x600 (and will resize larger images). If you do then upload it and let me know and I'll remove the smaller image.

Try using solder. Comes in some different diameters, bends easily and holds paint surprisingly well. It's what I used for the hose on my fuel dump.
