Yes, white background helps the camera to use it's Auto White Balance (AWB) setting to get the colour balance as close to correct as it can. Also it helps not having stuff in the background that can be distracting, and stops the model from merging with elements behind it.

I must say that deciding on how to distribute my votes was hard, the entries in both competitions have been of high standard and certainly better than I would have managed. Good luck to everyone :)

I agree Dorman, I think any of them would be worthy winners.

Claws crossed here, I don't think I'll win either comp, but...

Was a good standard and nice to see the number of entrants. Saying that and given how many of us rushed at the deadline, I think a week might be all we need for a pure painting competition...

i think the lesson learnt here is not to have 2 comps close on the same day: no matter how much time we have to work on the different entries, it invariably gets done at the last minute.

next time we have 2 comps running at the same time, i think one needs to finish at the end of the month and the other needs to finish in the middle of the month - that way they wont clash. :)

I was aiming for either late tonight, or when I get up in the morning. Any preference?

i dont mind either way (long its open = more time for people to vote, but we have to draw the line somewhere).

if you arent going to be releasing the results until tomorrow morning, then you may as well leave it open overnight, yeah? :)

cheers

Painting comp

Postby Herne » Tue Dec 09, 2008 11:53 am

Excellent! Thanks to everyone who voted for my models. First on the Ork, second on the Termie - I'm pleased as punch! :D :D :D The competition was stiff too. Kudos to MattJgilbert on his Termie - classy model. Well done to Darkgod on his Ork too - a super example of weathering and great work on the chequered plates - something I find really hard to do! All the entrants should be congratulated on their effort and I hope everyone will enter for the next competition that runs.....

Thanks to Gaming Figures on the prizes - It now means I can make a start on that Warriors of Chaos Army I have been mooning after. :D

Thanks to everyone for making it so much fun. (And so tense! 8O )
