AoS Weekend - What are you bringing?

Postby Spack » Tue Apr 08, 2008 2:28 am

As the weekend is intended to be a relaxed affair I'm not looking for everyone to provide fully legal nicely formatted lists up front. I'm quite happy for people to turn up with a list on the day if they want, although it'd help matters considerably if it was legible and legal - don't want anyone going away with black eyes or being ejected from WW by the staff for fighting :P

The intention of this topic is to get an idea of what type and size of armies players will be bringing. Unless anyone objects, I suggest we work with just 3 sizes of list - 400pts Combat Patrol, 1500pts 40k, and Apocalypse (not sure on size, maybe flexible as it doesn't need to be perfectly each side, but if anyone turns up with 20,000pts they WILL be on their own facing a team :P). Also, listing what you're intending to bring should not be seen as a commitment to actually bring that along, but if you do change your mind please remember to update your post in this topic.

So, I'll kick it off. Here's what I'm intending to bring along, although it's subject to change because I'm indecisive in my list organisation. However, be assured that whatever lists I bring it they will be uncompetitive and almost guaranteed to lose

FRI/SAT/SUN

CP Dark Angels
CP Imperial Guard generic
CP Grey Knights

1500 Imperial Guard Air Cavalry (sans speakers blaring Wagner)
1500 Imperial Guard Armoured Company (who doesn't love tanks??)
1500 Imperial Guard Death Korps (I bought loads of them, might as well use them :))

Apoc Imperial - a mix of the above units, plus some super heavy tanks
Apoc Eldar - probably just my flyers
Apoc Chaos - either just the warhound, or in addition a small supporting force

(oh dear, I think I need some more cases ...)

ive said in the other thread, but il repeat here for completeness. :)

we'l be there SAT & SUN allday. im bringing CP (400pts) Tau, and Kate will be bringing Eldar CP (also 400 pts).

i see 400pt Combat Patrol as a sort of 'lowest common denominator' - pretty much any list bigger than that can have a CP list chosen from it (Nidzilla, Armoured Co. and Deathwing might have problems though). i'd like to think that everyone could at least bring a 400pts CP list, even if it is just part of the bigger main army they are intending on using. makes sense to me, as that way everyone can play everyone else, at least on some level, and everyone can play quick games if we have an hour or less to kill (when it might not be worth starting a bigger game).

cheers :)

~ Tim
p.s. ive also got an IG CP (400pts) list i might bring, and a few other projects in the works too - depends on how things go.
p.p.s. il bring my IG Scanner along incase anyone wants to borrow it. :)

I should be there Sat & Sun (if I still have my hire car) and will be bringing my 1500 Pts Chaos army, hopefully I can put sand on all the bases by then. :?
BTW if anyone has a spare 60mm or bigger round base I can buy off them let me know, as I could do with one for my XV-92 Obliterater.
I only have the one army so far but I will try to draw up some lists for smaller point games.

Have we got any idea what will be going on when yet???
This will determine what I and my despicible associates bring, as we will in all likelyhood only make it for the saturday.

We could bring along pretty much anything at whatever points.

As conscriptboris has mentioned, Saturday should be when most people are there. What we were thinking of doing is trying to start the day with an Apoc game or two, and then as people get their armies killed off, or don't want to join in, they can split off and play smaller games. Ideally bring along 400pts and 1500pts (or have a way of pulling 400pts CP out of your 1500pts list) in case you want to play a CP or normal game, or both.

from the other thread to keep it altogether:
I'll probably bring a couple of armies. I'll have 400pt, 500pt, 1000pt, 1500pt and 2000pt lists for each.
As to what armies, I'm like to fit them in with others for the Apoc game, so this depends on 'sides'.
I can bring:
necrons, space marines, orks, imperial guard, daemonhunters, witchhunters, and tyranids.

I briefly toyed with the idea of bringing all my tyranids and taking everyone else on in Apoc, but my entire car would be filled with boxes.....so perhaps not!

I'll be there fri, sat and sun.
I'm leaning towards guard, sisters and tyranids.

I shall be bringing my Imperial Guard Inf. Company. Points to be determined but probably in the 4.5K range and a Stormblade. Might have a Baneblade as well by then. Hope to have the coy up to 3 inf platoons and hq platoon and a heavy weapon platoon. And some tanks (Currently 2 Exterminators and a Hellhound).

Might also bring my Mechinised Vraks Renegades (about 2Ks worth) - they are bleedin hopeless on the table top (lost every game with them so far) but they do look nice - and would be a useful ally for any Chaos faction.

Combat Patrols? Might use the Vraks guys?

I still have some minor stuff I need to figure out, but will try my hardest to make it that weekend.

I will be bringing Tau and Deathwing (pure).

Probably 400 CP Tau 1500 points Deathwing and for Acopalypse i haven´t decided yet.

Hehe, I love my deathwing too... I have about 4000 points of them, but it is a lot of termies, not enought heavy support for an Acopolypse game... Maybe if I dig deep and get a couple of more Land Raiders that will do the trick... Even though 50 terminators with chainfists will dig through most armour...

The best thing about Deathwing... it looks soo cool, both the miniatures on the table AND the look on your opponents face, and both transporting AND deployment is a breeze...

I'll be bringing:

Deathwing (pure) - 1500pts
Grey knights (pure) - 1500pts
Space marines (rag-tag mob of stuff I have) - 1500-2000pts
Radical Witchunters/ Daemonhunters (WiP) - 2000 - 2500pts

I'll try to get my IG up to speed and ,god forbid, even get my baneblade stuck together
