Re: Feb 2010 WHW Gaming

Postby mattjgilbert » Sat Feb 13, 2010 8:07 pm

OK, for Saturday:
16 players (or something divisble by 4) = OK
1 player over = I'll drop out
2 players over = me and dan drop out (you said you were going to offer to?)
1 player under = I'll take 1500 points (I'll use a normal FOC chart) on my own and discount my scores at the end of the day.

Sound OK?

Has my vote as long as U and / or Dan are happy to sacrifice..... Hopefully we'll all be there and it won't be an issue. Dan - what time are you going up for?

Not really, that is what I told King off for.I mean I know your list will be hand scribbled on the back of a napkin 2 seconds before the game starts based on what models GW currently has on the 3rd shelf on the left of the shop but... its still a synergistic force, which is kind of anti the spirit (and since the actuall comp is a laugh the spirit is all we have). How about BDA draws you up a random (but good) 750 (and doesn't tell you what) and loans you that to complement your 750. (or I could bring both of mine and you flip for which you get etc).. makes it more fun for you trying to work out how to get the forces to gell (its like 8 ramsey kitchen nightmares  ).

Rules- can I confirm that the early idea of "must fill up all slots before having a second x, elites etc"- was ruled out.. and it is strictly a 0-1 cap on everything but troops?

MR6 is getting his models out of storage- it sounds like he has a 60% chance of attending the saturday.(whether he's read any of my emails of the rules is a completely different matter)

Yes it says 0-1 in the rules :)

To be fair, I'm taking daemons and I won't be building a fatecrusher list and I don't have any chariots so it's not exactly going to be competitive even if I did go and build a 1500 list "properly". I'd rather not have to bring more than just the daemons so if people are not happy with me fielding a filler 1500 point arny (and not couting my scores) then I'll have to borrow another 750 from someone else (or yours as you suggest).

I can't stay past 4:30 on Sat now, so if there is an odd number of players in the tourney then best to drop me out. Sorry guys.

Addressed in prior post. Noone is WAAC, the criteria are that your taken by surprise and have to find a new way to work/find synergy.
I'll bring a spare for you :D

I'll be there for 9am, so it's not like I'll only be up for a couple of hours. I've got to be back by 6pm though cos I'm supposed to be at a party between 6:30pm and 7:00pm.

That's got to be one of the shortest parties ever. 8O

KMB said he would bring a spare army, I can too if you like which you're welcome to use*, no problems.

No - the parties going to be going all day - it's just the organiser needs someone to end it......

Does this mean models aren't even undercoated? (I thought that was the only prerequisite..... tournament pack states: 'Armies must be painted to at least undercoated standard; it is a courtesy to your opponent not to have to play against the dreaded “Grey Tide”.)'

No ones gonna mind as long as they're sprayed black or something. Memory serves me that's a WHW rule anyway which stops people whipping models out of a blister and playing before paying.

It would be a shame for you not to play just because of paint......

Right, it looks like I will be coming on Sat, just for the day (so no hotel needed). Unfortunately I havent really kept up with what is going on...

I have my 1500 pts Zombie army packed and ready, but Ive not done anything for the Tournament (is it too late to even enter?). Could someone bring me up to speed?

Also, would anyone be able to pick me up from the train station (and drop me off afterwards?) - I would gladly buy them lunch to cover petrol. :)

Tim - the tournament pack is available on the first post of this thread.

Jon and I can probably to the pickup, depending on time of course.

Stunty, will send you a PM

I should be getting in at 10:30 AM. I would really appreciate a lift. :)

EDIT: just checked the tournament pack, and it looks like that will mean I will miss the start time of the first round. Hmm. I might be able to catch an earlier train instead (in which case I will get there at 9:30 AM), although that will probably leave me a bit worse for wear...

Looking at the tournament restrictions, and thinking about what models I have ready, I have a few ideas for an army list. I could go Zombie Horde (40-50 zombies and not much else) or a top heavy list with DP/Ku'Gath and a few zombies... or a more balanced force with a bit of both. Does anyone have any preference/guideline for me?

Cheers :)
