My Charity Event - The Channel Challenge 09

Postby conscriptboris » Tue Jun 23, 2009 12:38 pm

Hi all fellow AOS`ers,

Well its the time of year again and I normally run a couple events a year for charity and this year Im really trying to push the boat out!

Myself and a fellow friend have teamed together to create an event whereas we swim the distance of the English Channel (22Miles) in a team of four relay!

Ive been training for a few weeks now and I am improving by the day, we currently have 60 people taking part (the total allowed in the pool!).

I am raising money for a local charity Gibraltar Childline as I believe no matter where you are in the world children need guidence and protection and also BLESMA, a military charity that helps Ex-servicemen who have lost limbs.

So.. I am asking for donations to support the cause. This can be any amount you feel is do-able :)

You can send checks to:

Aaron Pearce
DE&S ISS(G)
Buidling 210
South Dispersal
Devils Tower Camp
BFPO 52
United Kingdom

I do have a paypal account: conscriptboris@hotmail.com

Also we now have a justgiving site, they collect the donations and send it direct to the charity :) : Channel Challenge

Anything helps! There is also a Facebook page if you want to keep up with what's happening (Ive probably invited alot of you already) search for Channel Challenge 09.

We have permission to receive money for the charity and I will have their details and contact up when I get the letters from work.

Kind regards,

Elvis

Feel free to ask any Questions!

I've sent a little. I've also moved this to the Events forum, that should stop it disappearing onto page 2 of the recent topics :)

You could set something up through Just Giving? That way people can sign up for Gift Aid too.

If you do that, I'll donate that way, if not I'll try via PayPal :)

matt, Ive now got the site!

Channel Challenge donation site

Thanks for your support!

My partner in event organising got this up and running, the donations on this site will go towards BLESMA, we will be balencing it all out at the end between the two.

Unfortunately Childline Gibraltar cant be used on these sites :( but no worries!

Oh and thanks again Dan I got your PP,

Thanks All,

Elvis

Hi all,

Sorry about the delay, I did a post with loads of links and stuff and it didnt work :( I think its something to do with my UMPC tbh Dan.

Anyway, the update:

Myself and my mate recently took part in the Gibraltar Endurance Race, which is 1800m, easy in comparison to what we are doing however it was a stepping stone a couple of pictures follow:

Before the Race:

Sporting our company sponsors, the best swimwear out there! :

After the Race:

Three of our team:

The sponsorship is going well and I thank you all for the donations, every bit helps towards make the lives of children and limbless soldiers better, for this I thank you all!!

Ill update over the next week and with the event hopefully posting totals in the next fortnight!

Thanks loads
