The Dragons Tears - Apocalypse day July 20th

Postby mattjgilbert » Wed Jun 04, 2008 10:44 am

Last year we ran a fun apocalypse day and this year we are doing it again!

It'll be in our normal venue in Brighton on the 20th July. Contact paul@thedragonstears.com for full details and to see who is coming and what they are taking.

If you fancy coming along to play (issue a challenge, play a mate on big tables etc.) or just come and watch then drop Paul a line. I'll be taking my Ultramarines if you want to see them before the meet up in August :)

All table and scenery provided as normal.

I only made it for an hour but the general opinions were:

1. Make sure everything is organised well in advance and everyone knows what they are doing.
2. Everyone should know their own rules!
3. Players in a team should have equal sized forces so they are equally involved to stop frustration/boredom.

I think we have failed on number 1 already for this weekend which suggests it might not go very well... if it happens at all...

I was saying to tim recently that 18 people bring what they'd like to have is going to take up most of the saturday morning just to organise  ...even with building blocks of lists..What size bracket did you play per side and how long did it take?

It took all day with 3 people per side (didn't finish but enough to know who was going to win). Not sure what points they played - probably 15K-20K per side tops.

I think spontaneous smaller team games (with or without apoc rules) might be the better option.

Wanna challenge Wolflord Havoc and BDA to a game with me KMB?

Yeah OK - 3000 points per player. We'll be up against Tau (BDA) and Guard (Wolflord Havoc). The Guard will have at least 1 super heavy we'll have to worry about...

I'll bring my objective markers. I'll try and start painting them this evening.

Tau and IG...ok that works. How are we going to explain smurfs and Chaos fighting side by side!? ;)

A slight rip in the fabric of the warp? Or a hiccup from the belly of the beast! 8)

It's really simple. Way back when I worked for GW a buddy would fill in on the big saturday games with his ultramarines. For the 'good' side they would be ultramarines. For the 'bad' side they became the horseshoe legion.

Oddly enough, he later converted them all into chaos marine followers of Tzeentch called, yes, the horseshoe legion. They in turn became rivals of my battle sisters.

I'm afriad you missed sub paragraph 5 of the shadow proclamation modification thats adds to the end "except if you work for the forces of chaos"
I'll bring Mr6s Scratch chaos warhound titan (its stuffed with spru offcuts so people can't complain  ), probably a fairly standard (and fluffed) chaos list and top it off with something silly and light, like the whirlwind and speeder formation or something..I just need to read up a bit..I'll post back later today with any sheets I may use so you can have a check and veto if required.
What size table will it be?
8ft by 6ft? (2 tables pushed together?) means i'll have to remember to save some points to either flank or transport or infiltrate.
If there are more than 2 super heavys on the other side maybe matt could requst a fitting piece of IA from our benevolant overlord and his IA library to balance us up a bit :D

So er...spack... what super heavies were you bringing with you? ;)

I wish I had a thunderhawk... *waits for plastic one*

Yeah 8x6 on the table - assuming we are allowed to spin them round and arrange them like this?
