What would you folks like to do about dreadclaws/drop pods
Do dreadclaws take off again, would folks prefer that we used drop pod rules (familiar simpler)
Mine are paperbuilds and scratchbuilds of droppods anyway so you'll not like them either way  .. but how would you prefer we use them.
(Dreadclaws cost 65 points and are supposed to fly around.. but don't (possible should use the IA 06-7 rulesset) A chaosy drop pod costs 50 (IA) or 35 (smurfs)
And similarly with vehicles who and how has access to the IA 2 update prices for stuff? Does that follow the rule of p117 of apoc.. that imperial and chaos stuff can be interchangable as long as you use the appropraite ruleset?
You guys can use spawn and our dreadnoughts if you want

I suggest the rules in the Apoc IA book. That lists a dreadclaw as 65 points and a flyer. Sounds fine to me so long as we agree it doesn't count towards the 0-1 flyer limit!

... and so long as we all know what the flyer rules are!

Reading more...It doesn't have any weapons though and just deploys using the drop-pod rules... I guess the extra points are so it can pick up a unit and move it elsewhere?

Yep thats the problem.. its rules say follow a drop pod.. so it can't pick up a unit and put them elsewhere(it misses out the paragraph)..Its the silly one for apoc (it says it might be immobilised by landing in terrain.. but thats what DPs do when the land anyway).. so really its either a dreadclaw as per AI update 05-06-07 and lands in opponents turn and takes off again-like the smaller flyer transports that spack has .. Or its a smurf DP with no weapon at twice the cost with an incomplete ruleset that will cause a headache at some point.. I figure best to get the headache out the way now :)
EDIT see here http://www.ageofstrife.com/modules.php? ... =dreadclaw

I'd be happy to let you use them as intended (taking off again) if the others are.

It's the linebreaker I was really thinking of but I only have the 1 vindicator. Just 3 makes the special rule too fragile (lose one and you cannot use it). 5 would be perfect :D

Whirlwinds were for the suppression force but I tried that last time and it's OK but nothing wonderful.

Assuming we want one, do you want to take the linebreaker (borrowing vindi as a 5th tank) or shall I?

I can do the Line Breaker and add it to my force.
I could also rustle up a Suppression force as well. IF.. a BIG if I have the time, I might be able to glue and paint the second suppression force I have.

Do you want the 5th vindicator from me? I can then discount it from my own calculations :D

I think one suppression force is enough?

Have you guys got anything to say about this...

arseface wrote:I'm putting an army together of vrax renegades, from imp armour 6.

The artillery strike costs are a little different from the first list.
In the first one, you purchased a strike according to which type you wanted.
In the second, there is a points cost at the army listing head, followed by the same costs from the first book for each type of strike.

Is this a typo, or are you paying "X" points to have a strike, then points for the type.
Or "X" x2, 3 or whatever?

Also the scatter rules are a bit odd when taken with 5th ed.

It doesn't scatter like a barrage, but like ordnance from the view point of a spotter (giving up cover saves, potentially).

It is written assuming 1d6 scatter, I presume.

"If a miss is rolled, the distance scattered is double the score on the d6.
If a hit is rolled...deviates by the distance shown on the dice."

So, a hit deviates 2d6 - BS (of who exactly?).
A miss deviates by 2d6 - bs.

The problem here is the rule (I think) is obviously intended for 1d6 scatter, but even with codex overrules book, the rule can still be interpreted as per the rulebook giving what may be an odd result.

Any opionions?

well I have enough eldar to field anything apart from a AA force

I can make up a Titan hunting force (hello KMB) a super mobile force, a mech. force, a troop heavy force, a seer council from hell force, in short tell me what you chaps are lacking or need and I will endeavor to fill that gap =) I also have enough stuff for most of the non super heavy formations =D
