If you need to flesh out the Eldar I have about 6000pts. For instance, I have a Firestorm should we need more AA fire (although I was intending to maybe bring along an Imperial option for that anyway ;))

I'll try and post a draft list in the next couple of days. I'm not sure what theme I'll go with but it'll probably end up being and all round plug-the-gaps force.

I think our Eldar might be good for the super heavy assassin force. If Dan brings a Tank company and we also field a line breaker squadron we whould be good for armour. After that some AA and long range artillery, some pie plate goodness (space puppy whirlwind formation) and an assault force (the rest of the wolves?) and we might have a well rounded army :)

Then it's just up to us to get it killed in a spectacular way :D

So is VDR allowed?
Having just spotted the post (but not read) in "their" thread.

That might prove interesting - I've got a FW Minotaur here with no rules from FW yet, and with VDR we could make it not-super-heavy and still use it ;)

The VDR is ruffian trying to blend the old vrax list with the new one, he has asked for all of your input on how he does this. here
ruffian4 wrote:Have you guys got anything to say about this...

arseface wrote:I'm putting an army together of vrax renegades, from imp armour 6.

The artillery strike costs are a little different from the first list.
In the first one, you purchased a strike according to which type you wanted.
In the second, there is a points cost at the army listing head, followed by the same costs from the first book for each type of strike.

Is this a typo, or are you paying "X" points to have a strike, then points for the type.
Or "X" x2, 3 or whatever?

Also the scatter rules are a bit odd when taken with 5th ed.

It doesn't scatter like a barrage, but like ordnance from the view point of a spotter (giving up cover saves, potentially).

It is written assuming 1d6 scatter, I presume.

"If a miss is rolled, the distance scattered is double the score on the d6.
If a hit is rolled...deviates by the distance shown on the dice."

So, a hit deviates 2d6 - BS (of who exactly?).
A miss deviates by 2d6 - bs.

The problem here is the rule (I think) is obviously intended for 1d6 scatter, but even with codex overrules book, the rule can still be interpreted as per the rulebook giving what may be an odd result.

Any opionions?

I personally would get very scared of VDR (my evil which I am keeping firmly on a leash would most certainly find a way to eek its way out)

Well, the thing is we seem to have no anti-aircraft at all and are worried about them pooping on us from a great height.
I thought I would build some (temporary, as I won't need them afterwards) sabre defence platforms.

But, I hadn't realised that they had disappeared from the new list.
So, I raised the possibility of using the old one (check the thread for concerns), but in the meantime, vdr'd an anti-aircraft thang.

killmaimburn wrote:I personally would get very scared of VDR (my evil which I am keeping firmly on a leash would most certainly find a way to eek its way out)

Yeah, me too.
In my defence, I made an open-topped, immobile piece of junk as much like the sabre as I could (with a missile launcher though, I have no autocannons and my heavy bolters would take a bit of building).

Though, tbh, if you had vdr'd a baneblade back in the day, I would have thought it to be way ott.

ruffian, the "new" list and the "old" list are entirely separate renegade lists, the one in IAv6 does not replace the one in IAv5. They merely represent the renegade force at different stages of the campaign.

Amazing!
That's what I said!
Just wanted to be sure people thought the same and were ok with it. :)

Agreed - and I think having ruffian use the v5 list and WLH using the v6 list sounds very fluffy/well rounded.

Eeep!
Wasn't complaining about the use of.. :D
I was thinking that if we were, then I'd borrow my friends converted LR Titan Killer :D
I'm fine with using stuff that has rules already, whatever book they come from. As long as everyone is happy to do so :)

I'm currently looking at:

Tactical squads in Rhinos
Assault squad
Devastator squad
My bikes, attack bikes and speeders
Predators and TFC (yay, go TFC!*)
Ancients formation (granting Flank March)

An all rounder force to support our other components or help out where required as the need arises. I might have to drop something to take an HQ!

* note, this is not KFC (although rumour has it colonel sanders is in charge of the tank company we have).

I have 2 you can borrow (as long as you don't fire them at me).
