Starting the Russian Soviets!

Starting the Russian Soviets!

Postby Company Master » Wed Mar 06, 2013 2:54 pm

Hello guys!
I just registered and acc on here today, because I saw the FoW section.
I've been thinking of starting FoW myself, because many of my friends at the club also starts it, so why not?
It seems pretty nice and balanced Game Play and that's what I like.

I'm thinking of starting Soviets, a mix of infantry and tanks to start off with.
Any suggestions on what I should get to those? I'm thinking to get a 1000 pt. list running soon :P

Thanks beforehand!

Welcome to aos!!!
I don't play so can't help, other than to wish your komissars dead eye aim in dealing with recalcitrants and interlopers.

Pick your army then get some tanks!

It is cheaper and easier to paint than lots of Infantry and if you go Soviet that is *a lot* of Infantry. You can also then learn the rules whilst playing them and then move onto other units as your fancy takes you.

Worked for me and now I am on my third army.

Look for some box sets, they are the cheaper way to go.
Also go to the flames of war site, you can get a good amount of background information there.

My Soviet force is a Tankovy one, I do have an infantry force as well but it really is massive due to the low cost of the Soviets.

I would suggest getting 2 boxes of T34 obr 1942 and a box of T34/85s, mabe some SU85s and a small detatchment of infantry. I dont have access to my books at the minute.

Have a look at The Plastic Soldier and Zvesda 15mm ranges they do some good plastic kits at about 1/2 the price of Flames of War.

Keep us up to date, pics are always good.
Just make sure your tank factory exceeds its production quota. You don't want to get purged, afterall.
