Necron weapon cost bug

Postby wag48 » Fri Feb 13, 2009 12:50 am

It appears that the cost of regular gauss cannons is more than heavy gauss cannons.

Looking at the Necron options there are also a few missing, I'll get them looked at and fixed today.

All the Necron options have been added and checked, it appears that the original code the VDR was based off was using an older Necron VDR that the CA2004 rules.

I down loaded the file set yesterday and the Heavy Gauss Cannon was the last one in the list. I see you have added a few more weapons and changed the Heavy Gauss Cannon to the same value as the Gauss Cannon. The upgrade costs 10 points in the codex and it probably should be reflected in the Java data file. Fortunately, I have done programming in C, Basic and assembly and had no problem finding the data and changing it on what I downloaded yesterday, but I will use the fixed file from today. It's a very nice program and much easier to use than the text version published by GW.

That brings me to my next request.
That last VDR version published by GW included the large tyranid creatures that were licensed and made by Armorcast and Epicast. The stats and costs for the Dactylis, Exocrine, Haruspex and Malefactor were included by GW as "standard creatures" attached to VDR as examples. The problem with using this TDR (and the one by Army Builder) to create these creatures is that the WS was lower than the minimum available
in TDR. There may have been other attributes that were unavailable as well.

There may have been other VDR models given as examples. Could these be added somehow?

According to the VDR from CA2004 the Heavy Gauss Cannon and the Gauss Cannon are both the same cost - 40pts. It doesn't matter what is in the codex, the VDR calculator will be maintained to follow the VDR as those are the rules. I have noticed that the types are wrong for Necrons too as Flyers and Light Vehicles are not allowed to be taken, nor are Souped Up Engines, and War Machine sized Tanks must always be Skimmers and not allow Close Combat weapons, I'll adjust these later today.

Have you got CA2004? The TDR follows the Tryanid Monstrosities in that book as they were latest version of them printed, and in there the example creatures all have WS4 (including those you named) and the TDR allows WS4, so I'll need more details from you to work out if the TDR is wrong or not.

Take for example the Dactylis. The Tyranid Monstrosites rules have it as WS4 BS4 S5 T6 W3 I2 A1 Ld10 Sv2+, Lumbering, 2 Spore Mine dischargers with all mine types. 119pts. I've added the output from the TDR for these options, as you can see it matches.
