3rd overall!
Great work jlong! :eusa_clap
Those are some of the best looking game boards I have ever seen.
Each one a different theme as well. :D
Must have been quite an experience.

Yeah, the glory of this game is having good game terrain, and the LotR tournaments here in the states have done well in creating themed boards with LOTS of terrain. It is very unfortunate that in most games people play that the terrain used is generally a couple hills and a stand of trees and a building. I am trying to come up with a game board for next year that will mirror the Dead Marshes landscape. Its going to be pretty involved, so I really don't know if I will get it done as my skills don't match my dreams. lol

3rd overall was awesome. It is by far the best finish in any even I have been. My last 3 years for GitD have been 10 our of 20, 11 out of 19 and a dreadful showing last year of like nearly last. (Army of the Dead isn't really playable for tournaments). Additionally, the 1st overall has already received his golden ticket invite for the Vegas finals, so the 2 from our event were dropped to the 2nd and 3rd place finishers. So I should be getting my invite in the next week or 2. That should be great to attend as its only the top 2 finishers from all the indy events at the finals this year. Only the best of the best.

Well you know that all of us here will give you all the help we can in your terrain project.
I guess you are going for this kind of a look;

Sorry for the small pic, but for a close up from the movie;

What's interesting it that your terrain doesn't really have to mirror the movie. IIRC, Tolkien either served in WWI or knew men who did, and his idea of the dead marshes was based on scenes like this from the battlefield;

So a fairly simple board idea with lots of chewed up ground (spackle or equivelent with brown flock), marshy type grass (I think GF9 has some good looking stuff), dead trees (old twigs and dried out hedge roots), and standing murky water (any of various water effects).
For cheap dark brown ground flock, I saw a tip on another site when a guy saved his old tea bags, dried them out, and used the old tea leaves for ground cover. I'm trying it out now, will let you know how it works!

Good luck at the Vegas GT! That will be an incredible event if past years are any indication. Nice to know someone who is actually going!
