Deadzone terrain

Deadzone terrain

Postby mattjgilbert » Wed May 22, 2013 8:31 pm

Mantic released pictures today of some of the Deadzone terrain to show what the various packages could look like. They are being sold in "Battlezones" and so far the pictures only show what the "Core worlds" zones can make.

Is anyone going for just a terrain pledge and if so, what are your plans for it?

In general, has anyone thought of how they will build their terrain or paint it? I've got lots of ruins and part-buildings already (mostly GW) so will most likely build more solid buildings.

The kits are supposed to clip together and apart again so that could be good for keeping small sets available to be broken down and transported for evening games. I imagine I'll just glue all mine though. I might avoid grey too when I paint them.. I'll see how they look and then decide.

It's all looking pretty good so far - the pictures remind me of industrial areas or docklands - especially with all the towers. I'm looking forward to seeing what the landing pad and other zones look like and how they'll all fit together.

I can't wait. I'm. For strike team and 150 on the battle ground too. I plan to use them to create a 4x4 necron undo board for use in both games :)

I'm at Strike team too, with an added $50 so far. I'm waiting to see the other battlezones and how many extra sprues are thrown in before committing any more money at this point. I'm thinking of the landing pad and another core world set, plus some of the antenocitis urban detail terrain (medi bay and urban street), but the core and landing pad could change. still 11 days to go!

Yeah I'm thinking of picking up the urban detailing stuff too - it could make for some pretty great looking stuff on the table when it's all together.

In the long term I'm thinking 6-8 Tablescape City tiles and build the ground floor onto each one, then the rest of the buildings could be assembled on a bespoke basis for each game.

Hypothetically, you might only need to fix a few odd deadzone tiles to the board to act as anchors so you wouldn't even need to fully define the first ground floor, just have a few permanent walls that you could build the rest of the buildings around.

I keep changing my mind as to what I'm going to do with it - there's too many options!

I might just have to sit and play with it when it arrives. Still want to see that landing pad though - I've always wanted one as a scenery piece.

But its so bargainous, you don't need to worry anymore..don't limit yourself, buy multiple copies to make each option..

Buying a bigger house to have room for it is not bargainous.

I hate to say it but.... you can too much terrain* :)

I'll get enough to make a variety of different things but for myself, I don't need a whole 6x4 table's worth. Lots of people asked for it though which is why they created the packages like they did.

I'd love to create intact and ruined versions of the same buildings but *I'm running out of storage space!

I'd love to get enough of the c=scenary to make the 4x6 board. It reminds me a lot of a shanty town, but very nicely laid out over the board.

It'd be fun to play a 40K game too, with fliers and foot troops!

I'll certainly be using it for that.

Any of you terrain nuts used these (3 different "books" of terrain landscapes for about £30)
http://www.worldworksgames.com/store/in ... roduct=164
(has "clip" technology come on a bit from those 5 clunky things we used to hold boards together in the 80s?)

Or the (slightly smaller scale, but still 6x4) one for people who get all the stuff preprinted and stuff for them?

I'm liking the medical bay accessorys thing to do with this thread..why no pics.. can you buy them direct without messing around with kickstarter for a year?

Detailing/accessory stuff is all available from http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/

We've used the downloadable hawk wargmaes stuff for DzC but one of the guys picked up the new card stock ones (at Salute).

I've looked at the Worldworks stuff before - it does look nice.
