Mantic: Dwarf King's Hold

Mantic: Dwarf King's Hold

Postby Baragash » Thu Feb 17, 2011 10:31 am

So I just pre-ordered the new Mantic Games Dwarf King's Hold. Hopefully this will fill a nice hole left by Warhammer Quest (though I am lucky enough to have a full set of WHQ, including the extra direct-only board sections etc).

Here's the spiel for you:
Image
The much anticipated Dwarf King's Hold board game is here! It sees the steadfast Dwarfs seek to reclaim their ancestral home from the living dead, venturing forth to fight the foul minions of the Necromancer who soil the noble halls of the Dwarf King’s Hold.

This is a 2 player, scenario based board game, with one player taking control of the Dwarfs, while the other commands the Undead. There are 6 scenarios to play through, each build upon each other, culminating in a huge, desperate battle which will ultimately decide who controls the King's Hold.

Included in this game are over 25 plastic figures including 5 Dwarf Ironclad Warriors, 2 Shieldbreakers, 12 Skeletons and 10 Revenants. There are lots of little extras that are fully usable within the game, such as the Dwarf Pit Dog, the dead Dwarf, piles of bones plus plenty of fun conversion bits.

You also get a huge pile of fantastic looking dungeon tiles; an elegant, innovative Rules-set, loads of in-game action counters and more than enough dice to play!
THIS SET INCLUDES:

  • Dwarf Kings Hold Ruleset
  • Dice
  • 5 Dwarf Ironclad Warriors
  • 2 Shieldbreakers
  • 12 Skeletons
  • 10 Revenants
  • A full dungeon's worth of tiles
  • In-game acton counters
  • Mantic Guide

Models supplied unassembled and unpainted.

Yes I'm looking forward to this too. My assumption is that it'll eventually extend beyond 2 players.

Apparently direct from the boss man (paraphrased):
The next installment of the game will feature the Elves and Dwarves and it’s been titled “Ancient Grudge“, this game will feature updated rules for ranged attacks and or course how to integrate the Elven host into your game.

This second set will be self contained or you can add it to your Undead Rising set, to make an even bigger dungeon, for twice the fun and perhaps even a three-way dungeon rumble!

If the first game stands up then :D
