Re: Boba Fett Return of the Jedi Helmet - Rubies Repaint

Nice. I have a fett helmet that I got off a mate (who has a copy of the original mould made by the bloke who did the helmets). I need to rebuild the rangefinder bit. Also repainting it to be more jango coloured. https://i.imgur.com/E3bfqhnl.jpg Also have a full stormtrooper set of sc...

Re: Count your scars!

None of my scars are from working with gaming models. Despite the cutting towards myself. I have more control of the blade that way (cutting away, I tend to not control the follow-through as well, and that will result in injury). I have a 7cm scar on my left thumb ("L shaped") that severed...

Re: Lost Patrol????

16 year old boardgame. Hex tiles, scouts v jungle critter markers. The scouts were the ones from one of the crusade games - puffy sleeves and all. Still have the tiles and markers and rules for it. Tossed the scouts in the bin where they belonged years ago (never liked that style of scout - much pre...

Re: Specialist Games Return!

I'd like to believe it, but my wallet and GW parted ways a while back.
What's with the current trend of taking stuff that was good in the 90s and retreading it for the current day, anyway?

First it was Twin peaks, then X-files, now SG coming back?

Re: 40k, who stuck with it?

I stopped playing 40k the better part of a year ago. Shelved the Eldar, marines and GK. I just got bored with the rules, the arguments, and seeing the same armies day in, day out. A new club started up near me, and Infinity, Saga, FoW, and a bunch of other games took off and reinspired the local jad...

Re: My GK flying brick transport.

Oh noes! Tragedy struck. Whilst moving this beast 'twixt house and club, it fell out of ute's tray, onto road at 80kph. I managed to salvage the engines and wings. The rest - scrap. Never did get around to making the other one - and have now given up on 40k for a few years (the current arguments 'tw...

Re: What NID is this, (tyranid OOP)

Yeah, they are kryomek models, made by Fantasy Forge originally (in Scotland), now done by Scotia Grendel. Helions from the Kryomek forces (Kryomek was the game, it was also the alien faction. Nexus were the humans). Little more than mobile mouths. Much like Ripper swarms - only Fantasy Forge did th...

Re: Power weapons

To follow up on this ^. (In case you weren't sure). That means you just get your normal S attack + (normal*) 1d6 v AV. A S4 SM with power weapon is rolling 4+1d6 against AV10 (most common rear AV in the game as ALL vehicles (bar walkers) are hit in the rear armour in cc) and at best, all he can do i...

Re: Stupid notion, unkillable unit.

Any unit that cannot be deployed on table by the end of the game counts as dead.

A unit that deepstrikes on turn 5, but mishaps - delayed - for example, if the game ends with no turn 6.

Re: Model Railway

A couple of hemostats make excellent heatsink clamps when soldering delicates. Other than that, you CAN get heatsink clamps purely for the electronics work. I found the easiest way was to WRAP the wire around the leads, then solder them (apply the tip of the iron to the join, then apply the solder t...

Re: Model Railway

My brother-in-law Mark just built himself a new shed to house his train collection. 26mx12m and 2 storeys tall. Has a mezzanine level for his club meets and room enough for ALL of his trains (including his ride-ons.). Nice work on the layouts, btw. Hornby CAN be expensive (Mark has spent more in the...

Re: GW GrayKnight FAQ is up on the website

And that can be done with a razorn saw and mitre box or a small pipe cutter.

Done both over the years.

Re: GW GrayKnight FAQ is up on the website

Easy enough to do with a pin. I'd recommend something around 1.5mm thick or so for the pin, though. Don't like the hammer on the NDK. It looks a trifle small. And the sword is too large. Yes, I know infantry carry swords around in this game that are TWELVE (scale) FEET long, but why upscale it again?
