Best way to make sure you get a game at the club is to pre arrange it.
If you forgot to do so on the previous club night, you can always post for a game in our forums... just post game information, like gametype and points total, here and wait for someone to take up the challenge... simple.
If anything pops up you can always find a replacement quickly using the forum too.

Anyone want to teach me how to play
40k again? Might dust of my GT losing list and begin the long re-design process again.
Ready for the RRGT

Well my
40k game went Ok, surprisingly after a great deal of punishment every turn due to a massive amount of Imperial guard firepower the dust cleared to reveal that my sergeant had survived (by hiding behind a barrier of his dead brethren - they shall be remembered) and managed to crawl to the last objective by turn 5 winning the game. Thoroughly enjoyable return to the game, I forgot how bloody the whole thing is - or is that just my tactics
Still loving the civilised out manouvering of FOW though and had to stop myself from pre-measuring and hiding behind and in the woods.

Well WFB 8th edition now allows pre-measuring I believe. And even in
40K, hiding in or behind woods can be a good thing to avoid being shot at. It will be interesting to see what changes
GW has in mind for
40K 6th edition!

In
40k you can still get shot if you are behind a wood (as My poor Bikes found out to the cost of the attack bike) but in FOW woods block line of site so u can hide with impunity.
Id be suprised if premeasuring isnt allowed in 6th especially with the Warhammer Fantasy allowing it.

In 5th, true
LOS is used. Some of the woods I built are thick enough to block
LOS. But yes, you can still be targetted if behind an area of woods if you can be seen. You can also be shot at through the window of a ruin, which my opponent found out the hard way when a demolisher cannon shot found its way through the window of a ruin onto his unit of Necron destroyers! He got his cover save, but even that wasn't enough to have 4 of 5 of them get destroyed! (BTW, the last fell to a krak missile fired through a window of a different ruin!

)

looking forward to your return Ian. We must get another FoW game organised

infact i wonder if we couldn't do a 2v2.. german v allies... on a 6x8 table one night. 1500pts each should be doable.
