hey all
there have been rumours of Space Hulk being re-released for years now, and i want to stress that ive
not heard anything new in this regard (if i had, i would have posted this in the News section).
however... i was just looking at the 5th ed
40K boxed set pics on Warseer, and i realised: between the snap together Stealers from the 4th ed BFM set and the
snap together Terminatorsin the 5th ed box, we will have new, starter-friendly versions of all the figures needed for a more modern looking version of Space Hulk!
along with
GWs ability to make plastic terrain (
CoD floor sections and doorways etc), i think they are closer to being able to re-release Space Hulk now (should they want to) than they have been for a long time.
the new Termies are on 40mm bases, so will be compatible with normal
40K, and the stealers with their arms spread out wouldnt look out of place occupying a 40-50mm board square, either (the
CoD floor squares would be perfect, if you could get them in the right quantities).
we also wouldnt really need any card components (which
GW seem loathe to make these days due to costs, i assume): they even make plastic counters now for
40K! i see no reason why they couldnt make moulded blips, overwatch counters, doors, turn counters etc.
having cheap snap fit Termies already available in the 5th ed boxed set (by then) would defeat the argument that such models wouldnt be made available in
SH as it would cut into sales of the multi-part boxed sets (as would leaving out the most popular weapons).
so, what do you think?
cheers
