Dark Heresy

I picked up DH. It is different than WHFB in that your careers build. If you are a guardsman you start as a conscript, then a guard, and so on. The careers will often split as a guardsman could become a storm trooper, officer, or sniper with their own progressions. There is a lot of 40K background and a good comparison of the different weapons available (range etc.). I am on my phone but when I get home I will write more.

I was looking at buying it, but now I see that BL are closing so there won't be any ongoing support for it. Bit of a bummer as it looked really good.
Just wait for the REAL Apocalypse.
Then you'll see SHOCK & AWE.
Amen!

How complete is the book?
I mean, can you play the game with it, or is there a lot missing?

If the first book covers all the mechanics and basic careers, I can dream up the rest myself.

It isn't too much of a concern if I don't know how to travel trough space or become a marine (the second and third books as I understand it).

Does anyone know if there will be a reprint?

Sorry I was watching the Super Bowl. Yeah Giants.

It covers everything to play. It looks like a complete game with the DM section in the back. There are only 7 career tracks and no rules for crossing careers so I am thinking that you don't. It is more like D&D 2nd Edition instead of 3rd. This book is all about working yourself through the ranks and eventually becoming a Inquisitor.

There is a lot of background info and it talks about a lot of stuff that isn't covered as much in the 40K game such as how the economy functions and the roles played by the different groups.

I have heard people say both ways so I really don't know if there will be a reprint. My understanding is this was supposed to be the Inq, the next was going to be Rouge Traders (in 2009) and the next was going to be Space Marines (GenCon 2010 I think). Those are gone now but they will produce the 4 books they already had ready to go.
