One for the oldies.... oh >.>

So, some of you may be aware that GW was originally set up by some blokes, two of whom were Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone. They also wrote a series of choose-you-own-adventure books called Fighting Fantasy....

....which have just become available on the iPhone. Nicely they've started with some of my favourites in the series, Warlock of Firetop Mountain, Citadel of Chaos, Deathtrap Dungeon and Creature of Havock. They've also released The Shamutanti Hills, book 1 in an epic and ridiculously difficult 4-part series (Sorcery!) they published.

So I've been having lots of "fun" trying to beat Deathtrap Dungeon again so far............. *disappears into the corner to rage as he makes another wrong choice*

Well, I'm enjoying my trip down memory lane from before I even knew WH and 40k existed :)

Was the FF books that got me started in GW stuff. I picked up a few when they re-released them a few years ago.

Great memories, one of my favs was Appointment with F.E.A.R. where you were a superhero and got to chose your superpower at the start.

The firetop mountain one were good as well. What was the name of the warlock? I know it started with a Z.

My new gaming group has a guy who made this, He's apparently working on a new boardgame based project with steve jackson..How awesome?
For me my pivotal one was citadel of chaos. (not the best written just my first and you never forget your first.

Oh yeah and S korea apparently just launched fighter jets in response to sustained shelling from the north.
Barely even lurking..

FF was what got me started in the hobby too.

I mapped out both Firetop mountain and Scorpion swamp by following every story path. I think I had too much time on my hands!

I remember Citadel of Chaos as it had ne completely arbitrary death point, that I kept hitting!

Forest of Doom was another good one from the early days.

Most of the best ones are the early ones. I loved City of Thieves, the imagery was very influential/inspiring (to me at least).

True, though books 51 and 52 are two I remember fondly (Island of the Dead? The Night Dragon?).

Never really did these.
Went straight from seeing an rpg being played at school, to a library book and then ad+d to the peak of all, Call of Cthulhu.
