http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=276326Hiya Russell's teapot and I have just started flirting with a plethora of old games systems, 1 of which is bloodbowl.
We got the competitive rules from online ( basically living rulebook 6) I got hold of a few 2nd ed boxsets and we've started converting stuff into armies (I'm going skaven 2 throwers, 4 runners, 1 blitzer, 1 ogre,7 lineman (maybe dark elf as secondary) He appears to be going Orks 4blitzers 4 black orcs 2 throwers linemen to fill,(maybe amazons as secondary).
And so far we're just working out the basics.
First test game through up some issues (the least of which was that 6 turns took 4 hours)
1)Block skill,we read it wrong at the time.. the block skill is only relevant when resolving a "both down" result right? p10/p63 (at the time looking for other references and only finding "additional pip" (in art of blocking) we treated it as a modifier to the general block result rolled.
2) Can someone declare moving over a square that has the ball, pick up the ball carry on players turn (p8) moving him further forwards and throwing the ball (if announced that that shall happen at the start).. I'm not sure I'm not confusing "player" (coach/team) turn continuing or "player" (single model) in its wording..I thought the number of actions per player were limited.
2a) Can you complete actions, move to another model and then go back to previous model and perform another legitimate action. Or because most of them are moves (e.g. Blitz moves) each model should do everything related to that model and then move on to the next model. (thinking about how to stack and allocate priorities when moving up and "assisting a block" which we tried a few times fairly well)
3) Tackle zones, do you have to roll to walk into tackle zones when you intend to blitz someone. I had more than half my guys fall over before they even got to compare their (lower) strength with opponent players. And my rat ogre (after passing his wild animal test) put himself in hospital for thinking about standing in an adjacent square to an ork lineman. He needed to roll (after quasi leadership and after movement) a 5+ just to stand next to him without falling over (before trying to swat him).I can't understand why anyone would take anything aggressive with a AG less than 4 (so he doesn't fall over his shoelace aiming to block/blitz)
I had this nagging doubt all evening that something was terribly wrong with the mechanic and I couldn't figure out what (whilst RT said (paraphrase from memory) that lower agility couldn't grip opponents so it made sense them missing and landing on their face.
Whilst the game was a draw I got Pwd 5 guys in the hospital+2 K.o'd.
I think its because
I read the rules wrong. how much of the above is rubbish?
Its a great game, we had lots of fun and we'll whip it back out soon
Thanks in advance
