SPACE CRUSADE summer10 (help needed)

Any other GW games such as Space Crusade, Blood Bowl, etc.

What should we bring from game 2 to game 3

Should we completely mulligan the whole second game and do it over?
Should we ignore everyones bonuses for the second game(forget it happened and move on..tough).
Should we strip only the baddy for being beardy.(the games will only get tougher from here for heroes)
Should we carry on regardless- but restrict MR6 to pure raw and magic sack randoms
Should we carry on regardless- as he has been doing.

Right and so to work…


Space Crusade..-mini rep.

First mission; was us all finding our feet.(playing through the starter book mission 1)
Broodqueen was ultramarines with medipack(rejuvenates commander),digi weapons twinlinked assult cannon and move move.(max heavy weapons+powerfist)
Ljundhammer was imperial fists with suspensors(heavys move as light infantry), combi weapon heavy bolter on sarge,melta bombs (once lots of extra dice in CC) and something else…+move move..
I was bloodangels (and I got it wrong) I took a melee force however I didn’t spot that the close assault blades and bolt pistols were only for my scrub(when taking max heavies..I also took a force field (arm value of commander in shooting up to 3) and bionic arm (not as good as digi weapons..but still a reroll for my commander.

Mr6 was the baddy.(mostly because I’d said we couldn’t play expansions in the first mission and that elder was just guardians pretty much)
GAME ON..
He tried to ambush Broodqueen setting up just out of her range, but she used orders to get into the corridor plasma’d a line who weren’t expecting it.. missiled another cluster, and assaultcannon and fist tidied up. (she instantly went up to 40points)

Before game I told frog most of the game revolved around
A) players playing VP denial and knowing when to leave.
B) hide the dreadnought suplize butzzexx,
Well he got ljundhammer with a B, as soon as he was out the air lock,still clustered and timid optimal dread walks around the corner..plasma and missile kill 3 marines.
I faired fairly well.. survived the first wave.. and then MR6 thought that with LH dead all he had to do was run away with all his blips so I scored low enough to die (if you get too few VPs your sarge is sent into the void on a long walk to redeem himself (charector dies). I got a few kills= 15points over my casualties by turn 10 and left along with broodqueen, ljundhammer having been battered.(despite my attempts at last minute help which cost me 2 heavys)
INTERVAL
Results-
1st-Frog gets 2 marks of chaos and promotion
2nd-Broodqueen gets 2 honours
3rd- I get 1 honour
4th Ljundhammer has to start again

Broodqueen gets more twinlinked weapons,stays conventional..
I swap my wargear around, leaving the missile launcher at home to take another bolter (to take advantage of my bolters being able to attack diagonally, -1 to enemy dice, and +1 to my dice- 2/5ths of all my wargear and losing a heavy weapon that.)
Ljundhammer is reborn as a sergeant in the deathwing..losing equipment cards he has move move move order.. 3 LCs termies 1 sarge (stormbolter and power sword) 1 heavy flamer (super missile launcher)
Ljundhammer is happy.

GAME ON GAME 2
Several things went a bit wrong with the 1st proper game (2nd mission)..
1) I specifically allowed MR6 to pick event card instead of us cutting the deck and picking a card at random for him.(because previously the evil player in the first three games,I’ve found, is at a slight disadvantage until it becomes game tiered per the number of space marine players)
2) I said he could bring on reserves (indicated on map) even though the game set said “no reserves” (as in my mind 0+2=2) He then specifically choose the most deadly 2 reserves tokens (when they should have been at random and I specifically said don’t just take all dreadnoughts)..so that’s 1 more dreadnought and android..rather than a gretchin/goblin.
3) I didn’t realise at the time but it made sense after (duringLH and I having a smoking break) ..he deployed and activated all the 4th quarter at the same time as he revealed for the Broodqueen (I’m still not sure if she actually went into the 3rd or whether both quarters were against the game). This meant that from very far away on a long corridor he managed to get heavy weapon shots and then fall back again into further and further back to never be assaulted.
What SHOULD have happened is we cleared our 2 quarters and then moved up on mass to clear the remaining (still deadly but less space to run and 3 squads rather than remnants) deadly quarter.(much less rushing and ambush)
4) the luck gods really hated us, ontop of the evil reserves and bombs he’d chosen. We got gretchin bombers, out of ammo, commanders stuck,he got “alien task force” which compiled my error of allowing reserves (despite my best efforts he “randomly”-(ninja) managed to pull out the hardest two remaining reserves tokens..a second missile launcher chaos, and a second chaos commander with heavy bolter).
And then on the dice offs, Ljundhammer lost 2 lightning claws super duper close combat monsters ..to an ork in close combat.
(redarrows are my made up reserve area.. red box is the quadrant he activated too early so as too ambush and then fallback through..ouch that hurt..)

Did all the above leniency quid pro quo? Not really frog says that my -1 equipment card only works to a minimum of 1.. so it doesn’t work against the swarm of gretchin he throws at me (killing 2 space marines)

Broodqueen stayed in as long as she could, got overwhelmed ran back made up for her losses and receives one honour badge.(she would have got more but she got surplize android spam fraped so she had to make enough back to make up for the loss of 2 heavys and a bolter in one turn).

Ljundhammer very slow and kept getting tarpitted by lone orks that butchered him.. by the time he was ready to assist me (fighting 2 dreadnoughts 2 androids 2 chaos commanders a heavy weapon chaos, a heavy weapon gretchin and lots of regular gretchin.. we were both down bit .. he took a missile to the face (which killed my assault cannon.. then orks killed his commander (super fluke dice).. his remaining 2 men went apeshit and killed the remaining dreadnought (I’d chopped one up) and covered my escape..since with their sergant gone they knew they were dead- honourable seppuku.

I was 2 points short of getting commendable performance.. but MR6 refused to get within 6 squares of me constantly moving back and shooting my lone fist guy.. so I walked off the table.

Results-
MR6 wins most points goes up another rank and gain3 more marks of chaos (+2,+5)(+RANK, +MEDALS, have in game effect)
I come second I believe but due to MR6s craven ploys I only gain 1 honour (+0+2)
Broodqueen lives and makes up for her losses gains 1 honours (+0+3)
Ljundhammer was wiped out again and has to start from scratch (+0+0)

So 2 games in of 12 of the primary/first arc, and a massive disparity has appeared..MR6 is now in effect 3 ranks higher thank ljundhammer. Ljundhammer.. the weaker player is now cumulatively punished if he plays more games..

Heroes are TOTAL SAD PANDA OVER 9000 and 11.. and we need your help so VOTE NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
voting for.. "those guys needed more pot, and more beer on the table".. is a given so everyone who votes.has already also voted that :lol: .

Yeah I put the bits someone with a reading age of 5 should be able to manage in red and included pictures in case they couldn't manage that. :P

I got bored reading all he poll options, so I voted for the first one, as it was the only one I read...

Big words=shorter paragraphs... and I made that as nonreader friendly as I could 80% of it is bulletpoints..you remove all the gaps its only 3 inchs of text. :P

I'm surprised that 2 people voted to carry on with frog not choosing randomly (RAW) but carry on optimally picking his cards and tokens.
I don't think I'm giving too much away by saying I thought you lot would go for either 2 or 4 (neither of which has any votes 8O )
So the person who isn't Mr6 lurking, why did you vote for MR6 to carry on not doing what the rules say? Cmon explain :D

I did have a copy of Space Crusade and the supplements but must admit to not really playing it more than once.

Ended up using the models (especially the Chaos Dreadnoughts) in my early WH40K armies, still have about 6 Tarantulas kicking around in a bits box.

As to what to do in the game - no idea.
Must admit reading the Batrep is difficult as I have no idea on the rules or what the next levels include.

Now if it had been Space Hulk - that is totally awesome - thank you for the link to the map creator.

Does 1 space hulk work well with 4 players over length?
Seems a bit monotonous at that level,from what I've watched.

I have the spacehulky bits..I kept enough genestealers (28ish aren't @MR6s for sale and hopefully Mr6 got my text delaying the basic stealer shipments), and between me and ljundhammer we have over 4k of termies.I'll look into it (esp long term).. but changing entire system just so that people who don't play will understand what I'm going on about seems a bit :bduh..
Most stuff I wrote was universal language of cliche..and the other bits were someone choosing something when it should have been random from a wide spectrum.Not exactly defining when break moves may lead to a trapped unit :lol:
