you ought to find plenty of opponents in Scarborough. For starters there is the university which will have a club.

secondly, there are two places you can go in town - the first is Gamecentre 2 - that place has a better than average stock level for an independant. I think its more about Card games than GW, but you should find some help there.

then there is Space Myth and Magic which is not far from the Sea front.

this one is more of a gaming group with a 'shop' tacked on to it, but i've popped in there once on a very cold sunday and there were quite a lot of people there.

hope that helps.

I would try Space Myth and Magic. They have free games nights/ days which are well attended and you would learn more/ meet new players. The shop is well stocked and reasonably priced and the owner is very helpful. Not sure of address just walk up the main street from sea front )towards town centre) and it is on the right

I know redcar is not in whitby, but if u do ever venture down the coast road, like some of our customers do then look us up on the High Street; PC Tech Computers / Gaming Figures.

since this has been resurrected i may as well point out that Gamecentre 2 seems to have closed down - found this out last weekend when i went there hoping to seek refuge from girly shopping.

am gutted, it was the only reason i agreed to go to scarborough in the first place!

I think a well meaning relative of mine bumped this up (given they also emailed me a link to it...). Apologies for that, but since its been done, I figured I'll come say hi to anyone who's looking at the area.

Hi, I'm John. I own the gaming store in Scarborough (Space myth and magic).

Gamecenter2 did indeed close down at the beginning of the year, leaving me as the only game store in the near area.

We're closed on mondays, and on sundays we're busy playing dungeons and dragons, so you'll not get much chat out of us, but we're open all other days and the store has two 6x4 tables which are free to use.

If theordred is still about (He only has two posts, so I'll presume he wont be) - feel free to drop in. Same goes for anyone visiting Britain's premier tourist resort. (I joke... its a gray wet place of eldrich horror...)

ps. We're down eastborough, which is connected to the main street.

"its a gray wet place of eldrich horror"

I think you just described many English seaside towns!

Welcome to AoS John.

Thordred

If you are still looking for opponents, there are a small group of us still active in the Whitby area - I'm sure we can arrange something, if you are interested. We currently meet 2 nights a week at my house - Saturdays and Mondays - though I should warn you as well as 40K we play WFB and a number of role-playing games. For obvious legal reasons we would ask that you be aged 18 or older....

If you are interested in getting in touch, please drop me a PM (presuming the site alllows them?) and post here.

Look forward to hearing from you ;)

Just as an aside

hi John, long time no see - must get through sometime :)

and the guys at PC Tech - you know who I am ;) funny who you meet online :)

Hello,

Sorry to drag an old thread back into existence.

I am moving to Whitby in November and was hoping there was a local club that ideally plays WHFB in Whitby rather than having to go to Scarborough for games.

If anyone is in Whitby or if there is actually a club there let me know, either on here or my email is andrew_tundrik@hotmail.co.uk

Cheers all in advance

Andy

Once again sorry for bringing an old thread back to life :)
