Ok, first of all sorry if the topic title is strange, but i saw no use in a title like: hi everyone, i'm shorack. ;)

I'm 18 years old (i only got this far recently)
I'm a Belgian (speaking, Dutch, French and a bit of English and a few words of Japanese, but at an unuseable level ;))
I like smileys. :)
I like friendly competition.

I used to play Warhammer fantasy, with Bretonnians (i like those knights, fighting with honour), and later on with vampire counts (i like a pack of models) so now i'm preparing for my move to warhammer 40k (i'm not planning to do it now, or my exams will become my nemesis instead of some foul Chaos lord)

I want to use an Imperial Guard army, the possibility of sending troops into a painful but honourable dead is so tempting :)

well, i hope that i gave enough introduction about myself and sorry for all the i's, it is hard to evade those when introducing yourself ;))

Hi, welcome to the site :)

IG are fun - points wise they're cheap, so you end up with loads of models on the table, hope you like painting squads as you'll have plenty to do :P I was drawn to the IG by the tanks first, then the Steel Legion, and now the Death Korp - make sure you have deep pockets!

Welcome on board, Shorack! :)

i play IG too - i started with a mixed force in 2nd edition 40K (Mordians, Cadians, Tallarns), traded them in for an all Mordian army shortly before 3rd ed, and then sold them to play 'Nids and Necrons. i sold the 'Crons (but kept the Nids) and picked up some Steel Legion second hand - ive built them up to 1500 pts over 3rd ed, and have been using them in 4th too. ive since dabbled in Necrons again (although i got bored) and i use my wife's Eldar army too, but i always come back to the Guard.

my next project (well, one of my many "next projects" :P ) will be an IG Planetary Defence Force (PDF) using Cadian models.

any questions you have on the IG just post and we'l see if we can help :)

cheers

Well, thank you for the warm welcome. :)
I'll often ask questions, you can be sure of that. ;)
I'll even try to put them in the correct forum.

I'm eager to learn, i prefer to start well informed (and it keeps me under control, so that i won't go on a shopping spree before i finish my exams)

and Spack, my pockets aren't that deep i'm afraid, 350 euro right now (and i'd like to get where i want with (500 in total), but i already have the needed painting stuff and i already have 3 heavy weapon teams, 40 guardsmen, a leman russ, the rulebook from the previous edition (but i think i know most changes :s), the IG codex and the catachan codex (not that i'm thinking of using those)

And my goal is to create a 1500 points army that can win some battles in competitions. So i'm not planning to go much further than 2000 points. (unless i get really addicted on the way, but i have some other expenses too :()

I'd like to create Imperial Guard that can deliver at least some punch up to close. (not necessarily in close combat, i think i would be asking to much then ;))
But i'll submit an army list soon, based on the little experience i have from some testing games in a local shop and my own vision on the IG when i read about them.

And thanks again for the kind offer to try to help me, i really appreciate it. :)
