I have to say Redcar is an awesome place to live. We have the beach, woods, marshes and hills all within walking distance. Not to mention the three large parks and many other smaller play parks for kids. Good public transport links and some of the best cycle paths in the Northeast. What the highstreet lacks in shops is made up for in pubs and clubs (and take aways). It has the odd rough area, but where doesn't!

Are you looking to rent or buy?
As Redcar varies from some very posh areas (Wheatlands Park) to a few not so nice areas (Dormanstown area and parts of The Lakes Estate) The east side of the Racecourse has a newish estate known as the Ings, Ings Farm estate is a bit older but still a nice area to live. If you look at a street map or google earth you can get a overview aand if you see an area that seem ok let us know the street name and we can give you the low down.

If you avoid Dormans town the Top lakes and the Closes you'll usually be fine some of the streets near the town center are a bit iffy to live on also.
