Hi everyone.
i'm new here too. Although i have been a frequent visitor to AOS. it's nice to see some familiar names from the much lamented GW40kForum.
Sorry for jumping in, i'm not well versed in contributing to forum discussion. i'm more of a reader than writer, though that could change during school holidays.

Hi Flakjacket, welcome to the site. So, another "veteran", eh? 19 years of 40k (on and off) for me so far ... :P

depends on your definition of veteran, if its number of games under your belt then i am a vet rogue trader and 2nd edition player. I have a lot less 3rd and 4th edition experience due to lack of time an oppenents!
But my love for the game has never dwindled ( my bank balance can attest to that!). i still have all the white dwarfs i purchased (129-324, though i am beginning to regret the last 12 or so issues!).
i hope to be visiting the site often, but unfortunately career choice leaves little 'me' time.

If "veteran" was based on number of games, I'm still near the "newb" end :P I started with a game in 1988 with RT, bought 2nd ed but never found anyone to play against but still bought loads of figures, started again mid 3rd edition.

I gave up on White Dwarf at issue 234 (after having been a subscriber since issue 100), although I have picked up a couple of issues since then (296, 300, 303, 306, and a couple of others) for the handy 40k stuff (Armoured Company, Deathwatch, reference card, IG High Command + Chosen of Ahriman, Abhuman doctrines).

And there's no requirement to maintain a post level over periods of time, so don't worry about not posting anything for months on end :P

Hey all, thought I'd jump in too...what with all the introductions and such. I'm Will, from Canada. I'm 17, heading into university to study biochemistry. I've been playing 40k for a fairly short period of time (about 2 and a half years). I've been reading this site for about 6 months now, and I think these forums will become a more than suitable replacement for the loss of the GW ones.
