Hey!

Postby Vaktathi » Tue Nov 14, 2006 4:07 am

Hey all, new 40k player here, looking mainly into an Imperial Guard army, more specifically the Forge World DKoK guys.

anyway, some of you may have seen me being annoying as hell on the GW boards and Warseer constantly throwing up army lists as people comment on them and ideas fly into my head and get constantly smacked down :D

allrighty, just wanted to say Hi!

Hi, welcome to the site. Those DK figs are damn nice, I've got a squad already and I've already pre-ordered the Grenadiers and the new infantry squad, and a Heavy Stubber squad on the way :)

Spack, just out of curiosity, Why the Heavy Stubber over something like the Heavy Bolter? the Heavy Stubber looks cool, but the HB has it beat in both strength and AP, unless I'm missing something, which is entirely possible.

If you get those DKoK infantry painted anytime soon, post em :D I wanna see what they look like painted (and not like the show pieces on the Forge World site that convey none of what most will look like)

EDIT: MarzM, http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalog/DE ... KRIEG.html has the DKoK mini's :D

You take the heavy stubber, not because its the best weapon, but because it looks the coolest!

If your ever worried about how well something works! Don't take Guard! lol

good point, but personally I think all the DKoK heavy weapons look nice.

I was mainly asking because I havent seen the Heavy Stubber's points value, so I don't know if its cheaper to field than a heavy bolter, which is in all respects a better weapon as far as I can tell.

but yeah, if you like the weapon better, I agree you should go with what feels better to you.

No other army has the heavy stubbers, and they look great :P I've got plenty of other heavy weapons, so I can have the gunner/loader figs magnetised to swap to the plastic heavies as needed until I've got more spare cash to buy the rest of the squads.

*cough cough*. Ok, I see you didn't read my intro post. Painting is something I rarely do. And I mean rarely! If I get a fig painted I'll post it, but I'm no artist :P

ahh ok, that makes sense then for the stubbers. as for the painting, yeah, I guess I didnt read everything, sorry about that.

I'm hoping eventually to have 6 squads of 10 grenadiers in my army, although I have no idea how I'm going to mod the weapons on those things to plasma's and meltas. Hopefully they'll get more released soon and get IA5 out soon as well.

I do tend to ramble a bit in posts sometimes, so not reading it all is forgiveable :P

I've heard IA5 is a long way off, mid next year at the earliest. FW are running late with Aeronautica Imperialis. I need to ring them later about the DK order I placed anyway so I'll prod for more details if possible.

I can't see them not doing more special weapons models, but they might be some time off as there were no WIPs at GD UK. I've got some Elysian meltas and plasmas to use for conversions, but I might save those for my Cadians with Respirators and wait for the FW DK assault models to come out.

Apparently there should be a DK vehicle conversion pack out before Christmas too, but I have no idea what's going to be in it.

mmm...I was hoping IA5 would be here soon =( oh well. double "=(" if it takes them awhile to get out sprues for plasma's and melta's, although It wouldnt be too hard to mod a flamer into a melta I imagine, just throw on a barrel of some sort and it's done.

What all would be in the vehicle conversion pack? sounds interesting especially seeing as how my army is going to be very vehicle heavy.

Just got off the phone with FW, not much news I'm afraid.

DK assault weapons don't even have WIP or test models, so are a long way off. No idea on the contents of the vehicle pack, apparently a new newsletter is going to be sent out this week or early next week with more new DK stuff listed but they want to keep the exact contents quiet so it doesn't get splatted all over the web first.

IA5 is in early stages of being written, and has been put to the side while Aeronautic Imperialis is being finished off - AI is going to print soon, but looks unlikely to be release before Christmas, should be out sometime mid-January. IA5 doesn't even have a rough timeframe, so could be anytime between early next year and the end of life on Earth :S

FW orders are about a week behind in picking at the moment as they closed their warehouse for mid-year stock take last week. This means my DK heavy stubbers and Eldar Night Spinner are unlikely to be in my sweaty little hands till December :(

If I hear anything else I'll post news in the News and Rumours forum.
