It's surprising how quickly you forget how to hack and dice

Postby hivefleetbrawn » Sat Aug 16, 2008 11:58 am

Hi I've just come back into your game space ....I've been away away for a while and have need to catch up with things.

It's surprising how quickly you forget how to hack and dice and absorb everything into your collective being with impunity.... isn't it?

Oh well it'll come back to me they say it's like riding a jet bike.

My plan at the moment is to create an undead marine army.

Welcome to the site hivefleetbrawn...whoever you are!!!

Undead marines are go.

We have been throwing ideas about re this new project.
1k sons look nice as we don't have any at the mo (cue kmb input hopefully).

Anyone with ideas for modelling them up/spares you don't need (minimal budget - be warned!).

I have about 40 zombie heads you can have Ch...I mean hive fleet brawn.

Does anyone know much about the legion of the damned stuff in the new marine dex???

welcome Xenos sk.... Errr hivefleetbrawn.

You wouldn't be the one doing that undead IG army on one of those "other" forums would you?

Legion of the Damned is pretty much as the printing in White Dwarf (I think) with stuff updated to 5th.
BoLS would be a good place to go for info, as they've done a compiled list of stuff for Codex:SM
Collector of Space Wolves, and all round awful painter!

Hi hivefleetbrawn, and welcome to the site. :D

hope you like it here :)

My plan at the moment is to create an undead marine army.

sounds good. there's Plague Marines, 1KSons, Legion of the Damned, and even Necrons (although you might want to wait til the next codex)... or you could just use the normal codex and say that being undead has no ingame effect.

hope that helps :)

The way I understand it, is the hive fleet (a bit bored with the "start 'em up and go" nature of the nids, wants a new challenge.

The question is, who best represents an undead chapter of marines (rather than the 1k sons specifically).

We already have death guard, so toes could be stepped on there.

Fluff needed, one idea is an alpha psycher and a black ship takeover...

Rubrics do well as shambling misguided dead stuff (they come built in with direct references to puppetry etc) most other races have lost compulsory movement types (berserkers don't rage etc etc).

Well, nothing's set in stone, but one idea is an alpha psycher that gets dragged off by the inquisition kidnap squads for appraisal (imp guard/too dangerous = dead/emperor food).

On the black ship ride home, the guards begin to pop their clogs and reanimate as puppets of the boss necromantic psycher geezer.

The boss could be a daemon prince, swelling enormously (he was in a film once) by draining the life out of everything around.

We could up the conspiracy factor by introducing a renegade inquisitor type (a sorceror) who knew about the necro wotsits going on and had designs on buggering about with the corpse god of terra???

Sorry about that old bean. Not my fault.

You see I associate with (oh it is my fault then) with 2 characters known as stargod and norsemantyr.

Both of these "comedians" have spot dooble entendre opportunity skill at 100%.

This leads to very defensive dialogue and subconscious analysis of EVERYTHING you say.

So, if you do drop one (ooh err missis), you need to diffuse it right away or there are hours of misery ahead...

Thank you everyone for your responses, much appreciated..because I've been away from the game a while, I feel like a novice.

I want to try something different that'll get the creative juices flowing.

Creating an image of ground troops is fine(zombie and ancient Greek ledgend films) but I'm a little stuck how to present undead vehicles...

any thoughts?

Thanks again
Please shopkeeper do you have anything heavy?

jason and the argonauts FTWs :D :D
Well creative vehicles is a tad tricky, you can always do the variants of X (PLague ridden baneblades are in some of the books and Don't some of the chaos titans come with rotted corpses for crew?) Then you have the whole problem that zombies etc don't generally get creative- the idea of them even being of orky technology levels is a bit far fetched (although useful to bare in mind) so when I have approached the idea i've generally just picked a vehicle I like and tried to make it something medieval...just because it seems a bit more undead (just make sure your opponent doesn't ask how they flew it their in their medival thunderhawk)..so in LATD my undead (which kind of stalled) had trebuchets instead of basilisks- however I never finished making the arm swingy bits
Any help at all?
Where \ what direction were you thinking of taking?
